Often, losing in the game of blackjack can be a very disappointing event in a gamer's casino run. Often this comes at a relatively high price, especially when there are large bets involved.

However, there are several things that the player needs to consider regarding positioning. One is that the initial arrangement of of players in the table is given at random. This means that every player has equal chances of sitting in the last seat, and who ever gets the spot first simply is very lucky. Another thing that is worth remembering is that the the betting arrangement changes after each round. This means that the advantage of the player's seat lasts only for the duration of the round only and he needs to waits for another few rounds before the last seat is awarded to him again. Thus players using the positioning for strategy only do so for particular rounds that they are in it. They then change tactics when not in the "right" seat. Rather than depending too much on position, good players focus more in using other strategies.

Some players also express their dismay over other who make moves that are somewhat contradicting to that of blackjack basic strategy. These players often expect that basic strategy is a requirement when playing and that all players should know it. Truth is, basic strategy is not an absolute means of play. True to its name, it only presents basic tactics that gamers can use. Thus the strategy is open to any improvisations and customizations that the player can make to suit his needs. The player can even use tactics that run counter to basic strategy if these prove more advantageous. Thus one should be armed with his own strategies that can counter any move that is not included in the basic strategy as a precaution.

Perhaps the strategy most distrusted by losing players is card counting. It would be wise to note however, that mental card counting is actually considered legal by many casinos. Thus what some players claim as cheating is really a legitimate technique. Again, the player must be aware of these techniques in order to have good counters instead of wallowing in defeat because of these.
