Facelift is a common surgical treatment as it gives a youthful look to the face by tightening up the loose skin. The process of facelift is also known as rhytidectomy and is done by removing excess facial fat, repositioning the muscles, tightening the excess skin on the neck, jowls and face.
By undergoing a facelift surgery, you will achieve a look 8-10 years younger than your original age as it reduces the wrinkles. Though there are various types of lifting surgeries, some are less evasive and produce different results but you should be careful while choosing one that will suit your skin and pocket.
Lower Facelift
If you want that only bottom third of your face should be tightened, you should opt for lower facelift surgery. In this type of surgery incision is done starting from front of the ear and is extended down as well as around the back of the ear.
Because the process can leave scars, surgeons have now starting doing the process endoscopically where they remove the tissue, fat and skin & tighten all the muscles by inserting a small instrument under the skin and viewing it through camera. The incisions are 3/8ths of inch long, and are thus less invasive. The recovery time taken is also very less.
Standard Facelift
In this particular surgical process, incision starts above the hair line, separating the skin from the tissues underneath. Excess fat is removed and skin as well as muscles of the entire face is tightened in this process.
In order to level the contour of the face, tissue is redistributed and the skin is sutured properly. In comparison to lower facelifting this surgery is invasive and the recovery time is longer. There will be severe bruising and swelling on the face but scars will be hidden behind hairline.
Mid Facelift
In this type of facelift, the area around the nose, eyes and corners of the mouth is targeted. The process is done endoscopically, recovery time is around one week and swelling or bruising is also less.
Mini Facelift
Mini Facelift is also called as mini facelift and targets specific areas only. If you don’t want the tightening of the entire face, mini facelift is a cheaper and less invasive surgical facelift option for you.
