In order to reduce wrinkles and maintain a youthful look, it is important to take good care of the skin. Skin that is healthy will keep its elasticity longer, won’t show signs of aging and can retain its moisture.
Skin care can be a challenging task. There are different skin types. Your skin type will dictate which skin treatment that you will use on your face and body. Also, everyone is different. Some people have skin that is more sensitive than others. That is why it is a good idea to do your homework and try different products.
Determine what type of skin you have. Make an appointment with a licensed dermatologist. She can tell you the specifics of your skin and if you have any sensitivities or if you may be susceptible to have allergic reactions to certain ingredients. This is also a good way to get some suggestions on products that may be helpful to you.
Do your own inventory at home. Take a close look at all of the products that you use on your face and body. Look at the ingredients to see if they are loaded with harsh chemicals. Some chemicals may even cause dryness which can lead to premature aging. Products containing alcohol can all lead to a depletion of natural oils. Throw a way creams, lotions, and gels that you suspect may be doing more harm than good.
When you go out to replace those treatments, look for creams that contain natural ingredients. This includes vitamins, minerals, and natural oils that can help seal in moisture. Vitamin A, C, and E are all good choices. Coconut oil, and olive make great natural moisturizers.
Pay attention to the temperature to the water that you use when you bathe and cleanse. Water that is too hot or too cold can have damaging effects over time. Lukewarm is best. Always apply moisturizers immediately after bathing. This will help prevent dryness.
Drink a lot of water. This is a good way to moisturize from the inside out. Try to drink around 10 glasses daily. Avoid sugary drinks, especially carbonated beverages as they can cancel out your efforts at staying hydrated.
Try to stay indoors during the day when the sun is hottest, which is usually between the hours of 10a.m. and 4p.m. If you must spend prolonged periods of time outside, wear a generous amount of sunscreen and wear a wide brimmed hat or use an umbrella. Too much sun exposure is the leading cause of wrinkles.
