Is there a new puppy that arrives in your house? Perhaps, the first thing that comes into your mind when you see her is to train her. But before that, welcome her first in her new, safe haven. One way to do that is to treat her as part of your family and not merely a toy or a usual house pet. At first, your puppy may act strange because there may be unusual smells and sounds in your house. Over time, she will just get used to it. If you want to learn how to train a puppy with less hassle, keep in mind these three steps.
The first step you must try is to teach her the basic commands like sit, stay, heel and others. Remember that puppies learn by repetition so do these exercises at least twice a day. Make sure also to give her the right diet so you must carefully select the brand of dog food to give her. You should also give her a nice place to sleep in. Unless it’s badly needed, don’t change this location. And because that will be her resting area, put it in a silent and neat corner of your house. The next step on how to train a puppy is to introduce her to short phrases and commands for similar expected results. One example of such is the phrase "go potty" which you should use when it’s time to take her out for her toilet.
Another step is to stay away from the habit of heavily punishing or yelling at your puppy when she did something wrong. It doesn’t mean you have to tolerate her; rather, show her your anger in the right way. You can frown and say some words without cuddling her. Conversely, you can give her rewards whenever she did something the right way. The steps on how to train a puppy don’t have to be difficult for you because you just need to use your common sense. You can also consult some books and websites if you need so. One thing more, make sure to have fun while teaching her. It’s also advisable to keep your sessions short because it’s more productive than long and boring trainings.
