What is a genital yeast infection? It is one of the many yeast infections that develops when the yeast cells grow too rapidly and there is no other organism strong enough to fight its growth. Every human body contains yeast cells that lie dormant and are usually under controllable levels. But, when the body has a weakened immune system or when the body is dealing with hormonal imbalances, yeast cells tend to grow at a rapid rate and overpower the stronger bacteria. One such occurrence leads to a genital yeast infection and if it is concentrated in the genital area, it becomes known as a genital yeast infection. When the condition is acute, you can see some swelling and feel soreness caused by the genital yeast infection. Some people have to deal with a foul smelling grayish discharge as well. Since it is not restricted to women alone and stops from being vaginal infections, it is commonly called a genital yeast infection. This is because it is faced by men and women. Some of the symptoms are similar though they suffer differently. Knowing about the existence of a genital yeast infection in your body is the first step towards treating it. Once you are able to isolate the causes of your particular genital yeast infection, you can approach a doctor for a consultation. The doctor should be able to decide on the treatment depending on the severity of the genital yeast infection. Putting off a doctor's visit is not advisable as neglecting genital yeast infection can be dangerous regardless of the gender. Continued disregard to the genital yeast infection can further lead to a breakdown of your health and make you feel tired and lethargic. Similarly, continued itching and burning can only make you feel awfully unhappy. Unfortunately, the genital yeast infection, if neglected, can be passed to the partner with whom you are sexually involved. In a pregnant woman. There is also a danger of passing it on to newly born child if your partner is pregnant.
The cliché "prevention is better than cure' is all well and good. But, it is imperative to know all about genital yeast infections and the various causes for it. Being prepared with the knowledge will go a long way to warding off a genital yeast infection. If it does occur, you also know enough to seek medical help promptly. In the long term, you would be wise to keep your immune system strong by following a good diet and livinge a hygienic lifestyle. This would include the kind of fabric you wear, the food you eat, how clean you keep your body, and the amount of fluids you intake.
