Golden retriever puppy training is a task that every puppy owners must start immediately as soon as the puppy gets home. The top priority of the owner is to immediately start potty training. No one would want dog messes all around the house right? So getting your puppy potty trained as soon as possible should be your top priority as a responsible dog owner. Potty training your pup can be a tough job, but putting your time and patience in potty training your puppy is a lot more desirable than having to clean his mess the whole day. All your hard work will soon pay off.

Puppy needs an extra help with this training because there are too many smells all around the house. There are also too many places that he will have a hard time figuring out where he is supposed to be. Therefore one good way to start training a golden retriever puppy is to start immediately after he jumps off the car. As soon as the puppy is out of the car, take him to his spot for toilet outside. Put him down and wait patiently until he does something. This may take a while because he needs to sniff al around to check the place, so be extra patient on this. After a meal taking your puppy to his outside toilet is a must. This is because the puppy’s little tummy gets full, so they would need to go to the toilet immediately after a meal. If you prefer to use a paper inside the house as his toilet, better use a thick paper. The moment he does his business, remove the top layers of the paper and place fresh ones underneath so as to allow her to notice the smell and it would lead her where to go.

Other rituals that you can instill in your puppy’s mind to potty train them are as follows:

  1. Every morning, as soon as the puppy wakes up or after a long sleep during the day, take him to his outside toilet to do his business.

  2. After every meal, take your puppy outside

  3. After a long walk, take him to his outside toilet spot.

Repeat these rituals always. Constant repetitions will instill the training to your puppy’s mind. It will not be long; your puppy will dot his on his own. Also bear in mind that in order for the dog to comply with the potty training, he must have an easy access to go out the moment he needs to. Therefore make sure that your dog can go to his outside toilet freely whenever necessary. If your dog messes inside, getting mad and freaking out will not do any good. Instead, clean his mess calmly, show it to him and take him out to his toilet spot. This will reinforce the dog on where he should go. Potty training is very important. So the sooner the puppy masters the training, the better will it be for the entire family.
