Dr. Linus Pauling, winner of 2 Noble Prizes, was among the first American scientists to work in the fields of quantum chemistry, molecular biology, and orthomolecular medicine. He was one of the most influential chemists in history. According to Dr. Pauling, "You can trace every sickness, every disease, and every ailment to a mineral deficiency."
There are two major types of nutrients essential for your brain to work properly: vitamins and minerals. One important role of vitamins is to enhance the absorption of minerals into the body. Life cannot occur without minerals and minerals are essential for the proper balance and function of the brain.
Minerals are essential to a healthy well-being, the proper function of the brain and central nervous system as well as many other metabolic functions. There are two types of minerals that the body must have: major minerals and trace minerals. Research has shown that trace minerals play a major role in the development, prevention and treatment of chronic diseases.
The body cannot manufacture a single mineral and relies completely on food for all minerals and almost all vitamins. Sometimes in nature there can be a depletion of these nutrients in the body. There can be a depletion of minerals in the soil causing a deficit in food sources or it can occur due to an individual's inability to metabolize nutrients in a proper or efficient manner. Some of these causes are:
Age, Stress, Trauma. Medication / Prescription Drugs, Improper Diet, Sleep Deprivation, Drug or Alcohol Abuse, Pollutants & Toxins, Infections
Diseases, Genetic Predisposition, Food Additives & Preservatives & Mal-absorption within the G.I. Tract
Many nutrients contain precursors that are necessary for the production of neurotransmitters which are responsible for the communication of information between the brain's neurons. Some nutrients contain precursors which are building blocks for the production of certain types of neurotransmitters.
If there is a nutrient depletion which causes a depletion of theses precursors, the brain will not be able to produce those neurotransmitters. Neurological and mental disorders may occur when the balance of neurotransmitters is upset.
The natural consequence of nutrient depletion is a malnutrition of the brain. Although everyone is different, mood, sleep or focus problems may result depending on which nutrients are depleted.

Jim Strode is the Founder and CEO of http://www.SecondChanceNutrition.net, which manufactures a nutritional supplement for people who suffer mood, manic, sleep or focus problems. Second Chance Nutrition was born out of the need for Mr. Strode to help 2 of his children overcome and recover from these severe problems through a specific nutritional therapy program without using medications. The therapy was so successful that he founded this company.
