Weiner dogs are a lot of fun because they love to play games and can be very comical, leaving you with few dull moments. They are great family dogs because of their loyalty to their owners. Keep in mind that Weiner dogs can become a bit irritable if pushed too far, causing them to respond defensively by growling or snapping.

Weiner dogs were bred to hunt, badgers in particular. They love to dig, giving into their tunneling instincts. You may see many holes in your yard when you have Dachshunds around. It is just instinct. Housebreaking Dachshunds can be a bit of a challenge too. Don't give up though, it may be a bit of a slower process but they will learn. Keep in mind that Weiner dogs are known for not wanting to go outside in wet or cold weather, so if at all possible having a covered yard area will help with this.

There are a lot of benefits to owning a Weiner dog. They come in a variety of small sizes, coats, and colors. Weiner dogs are comical, very entertaining, great watchdogs, great with other pets, loyal to their family, usually lives a long life, and needs only moderate exercise.
