Holding a Manuscript is the Sabian Symbol for the 16th degree of Cancer. Here it is described using the 7 Words System - a way of understanding the complexity of human interactions that can be applied to all aspects of self-awareness and relationship, so that you quickly change your perspectives and get to a deep sense of what to do to improve things.

Did you ever think that your sun sign, even though it says a lot about you, doesn’t really define you exactly? At least not with an astonishing significance so that all of your life experience has to assume a different importance. You may be attracted to check out these Sabian Symbols – they might help you alter your ideas! The Sabian methodology genuinely is quite exceptional.

What are the Sabian Symbols all about? Sabian Symbols are rather strange images – one for each degree of the zodiac – that have been clairvoyantly derived by an exceptional person, Elsie Wheeler, and deciphered by a leading American astrologer, Dr Marc Edmund Jones. Each gives a subtle hint about the basic connotation of that particular degree, which usually can reveal some very useful and stimulating perspectives that you may find quite interesting.

It works even if it’s not your particular degree – and yet a lot better if it is. It’s best to allow yourself time to do it slowly, like a meditation. Let each of the short paragraphs sink in slowly and try to feel what it means, as well as using the mind…or just sit with the images for a while and use your power of imagination to create some playful stories around it. Having come to some new realizations about the essence of who you are, there is another stage you can adopt – to decide to be different. You can influence a lot more of your circumstances than you usually do when you engage fully with the deepest part of your unique identity, by taking on the qualities indicated by your Sabian symbol.

Also if you are clearer about who you are, then you become a lot more certain about what you want out of life. You can set your goals according to an overall vision of the bigger picture, and that itself leads to a much greater chance of success. It helps with focus so that you keep your attention fixed on the required outcome.

Reading your own Sabian Symbol is a bit like getting a brother or sister to speak honestly about you. They know you well, with all your dark bits and your light, and although they love you, they’ll tell you the hard truth! It can be difficult to hear, yet useful for those who are trying to become better people. It may be necessary to reread it a few times and think deeply about what is actually being said.

There is so much we could do with our lives! Opportunities are endless and very diverse, each day bringing little clues and teases to nudge us toward a little more unfolding of potential. Saying No to this and Yes to that surely requires us to trust our feelings and surrender to the inevitable – that, come what may, we all end up being who we are: nothing more, nothing less.

There is no ethical standard that remains untouched by time or geography, no absolute measure of goodness or truth. These are ideals rather than practical working models. Each of us grows towards the ideal that we ourselves choose, and develop competence in being what we choose to become.

The scenes and scenarios that each day pass in front of our eyes stimulate in us an intellectual response and it is helpful to employ these dramatized life situations as if they were mirrors reflecting back to us who we are and what we are doing.

We ourselves write the script for our own life drama. As directors we express our feelings about what we value and, as actors, we dramatize these feelings. A masterly actress is convincing because she is convinced; she gives herself, body and soul, to her performance.

Yet, from time to time, it is wise to detach ourselves from our current involvements. We need to look again at the script and realistically examine whether we are keeping to it, lest we lose the plot. Against this plan we check what we see in the mirror of life.

Absolute personal control stems from clear vision focused by a specific detailed plan of intention. Without a goal, a person is as unlikely to reach safe harbor as a ship with no rudder. Learning to master situations overcomes self-limitation.

True self-awareness requires us to consider ourselves through the eyes of others, and follow up our observations with a process of continual self re-examination and adjustment. Our personal plans are thus coordinated within the greater design.

What arises out of this is a great deepening – when we learn to trust that life offers us much more than we have been able to imagine. Typically, the deeper profundity of personal experience is reached by serendipity, when we go beyond into unscripted realms of spontaneity.
