Their tails are long which are covered with their silky long hair. Their coats differ from curly to wavy. The coats of the adults reach from 6-8 inches with a pearly sheen. The Havanese has variety of colors; black, cream, silver, champagne, tan, blue, white, chocolate, fawn and gold. They may have a freckled or parti-colored skin. Their coats are unique reflecting their tropical centuries of living. Their double coats may reach from 6 to 8 inches longs and has soft and light texture. Their coat is neither wooly nor rough. The male and female Havanese varies in their weight and height. The male Havanese ranges from 9 to 10 inches in height while the female ranges from 8-9 inches long. The weight of the male Havanese ranges from 9-11 pound while the female ranges from 7-10 pounds.

These dog breeds are very sociable and easy to train. They are very suitable to be the companions for they will adapt with their environment. They are not likely to be purchased alone because they love to be with their family. Since they are sociable, they can get along with other dogs and family pets. They are fast learner dog breeds and are know as the circus dogs. They will warn their masters if there are visitors or strangers through barking. They are very fond of barking and they love to sit on high chairs to observe about the events. They are very sensitive dog breeds. They are easily upset with harsh tone and voice of their masters, so better to be gentle on them.

This dog breeds are very suitable for family who lives in an apartment. They are very active in indoor games and are fond of watching outside the house on a window. This dog breed is intended to live indoors and not outside. The Havanese is very prone to cataracts, poodle eye, luxating patella and dry skin. This dog breeds enjoy their lives up to 14-15 years.
