The top priority is generally to find treatment that can rid of yeast infections for good, but sometimes getting temporary relief from symptoms matters more. Home remedies are a good route to take for a few reasons. Number one, they are better for your health. Also, they don't cost very much and can be applied rather quickly. Here are a few home remedies that some women have had success with.

Start With Diet

Diet is so important to overall health, and plays a bigger role than you might believe with yeast infections. Eating some foods allow the yeast to grow and multiply, which worsens the condition. Foods that should not be consumed include sweets, pasta, baked breads and goods, dried fruit, and sauces. On the other hand, acceptable foods include wild rice, unyeasted bread, seeds and nuts, plain yogurt, vegetables, animal proteins, vegetables, and whole grains.

Hygiene

Don't not use any deodorants, perfumes, or scented soaps to clean the infected area. Avoid using any scented feminine products will irritate and even cause a yeast infection to occur. This is important when trying to prevent it from coming back in the future.

Because moist environments promote the growth of yeast, the aim is to keep the infected area dry. Wear cotton underwear as opposed to nylon.

Garlic

Garlic has long been known as an effective remedy as it contains medicinal properties and provides numerous health benefits. In relation to yeast infections, garlic is able to grow the healthy bacteria that fights against the unhealthy kind. It can be applied by inserting a garlic clove into the vagina before going to sleep. Garlic is also available in tablet form.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Another home remedy is apple cider vinegar, which restores the pH levels to healthy in the vagina by helping the good bacteria grow back. You can use vinegar as a way to get relief from burning and itching by adding some to your bath.

As you can tell, all these remedies for yeast infections are completely natural and healthy for the body. They are very inexpensive, especially when compared to medication, and take little to no time to apply. If you have a recurring yeast infection, then natural remedies are a great way to go. Side effects are minimal at the most, but the risk is infinitely lower than antibiotics.
