Conway AR is the seventh most populated city in the state with just under 60,000 people. Located just north of the capital city of Little Rock, Conway has the small town atmosphere with features much like the big city. The city has become one of the more popular places to move in the state thanks to its location, diverse economy and emphasis on education.

The History of Conway AR
The town of Conway was founded by Asa P. Robinson who moved to the area shortly after the end of the Civil War. Robinson was the chief engineer for the Little Rock to Fort Smith Railroad and he was given a tract to a one square mile plot of land where he built a depot. Calling the depot "Conway Station" after a famous Arkansas family, the station became the founding name of the town as well.
In 1879, Bishop John Tuigg managed to get 200,000 acres along the north side of the Arkansas River to found what would be known as the St. Joseph Colony. As part of the deal, the railroad company offered 20 cents per acre to every German immigrant that attracted over 100 families that subsequently created many of the German street names and businesses in the town.
What Conway Has to Offer
There is little doubt that Conway AR has a lot to offer those who want to set up a business or find job opportunities or just want to live in a great location. Conway is the home to the University of Central Arkansas and features many excellent educational opportunities for families that want to move to a beautiful location.
Conway is considered the southern gateway to the Ozark Mountains and it does have beautiful scenery. Plus, it is conveniently located near the capital city of Little Rock. There are also many historic sites to see, events and activities that take place the year round. Plus, you can take in the many fishing opportunities that are found around Conway as well.
The climate around Conway is mostly temperate with warm summers and beautiful fall weather. There is also a decent chance of snow in the winter which helps bring the city alive. Rarely is the weather uncomfortable for long periods of time which is just another reason why so many people call Conway AR home.
