Man’s Destiny is to Become God

As a young man, the famous astronomer Carl Sagan showed interest in the universe and the purpose of man in that universe, in an essay, he said, “After journeying through space over the galactic hub and through time to the terminus of our puny planet, we must be impressed with a feeling of Man’s utter insignificance before the universe” (end of quote) The Psalmist David also pondered man’s role in similar fashion when he wrote: “When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? (Psalm 8:3,4). The difference between David and Carl Sagan was that David, as we shall see, did understand the purpose of God in ways that Mr. Sagan never imagined.

What is Man?

David asked, “what is man? This has been the age-old question of mankind; and yet, God’s word – the Holy Bible contains the amazing answer to the purpose and destiny of mankind, and when understood, you will find it to be the most wonderful and staggering truth you could ever have come to realize! Yet, as stunning and wonderful as this truth is, mankind and the professing Christian world - with their various churches and denominations, seem to have no clue of this amazing purpose to which God created man; and so, they all seem to be devoid of this understanding. The Bible says, “… a good understanding have all they that do his commandments …” (Psalm 111:10) The churches of this world has thrown away God’s Commandments – using the grace of God to justify their rejection of the keeping of the Commandments of God – while ignoring the words of our savior who said, he did not come to destroy the law (Matt. 5:17). No wonder they do not have a right understanding of God’s purpose for mankind.

The Bible reveals that mortal man, created from the dust of the ground, was created with the incredible potential to achieve a purpose that would make man far superior to all the angels or to anything else that God should ever choose to create; this purpose reveals that man’s actual destiny is to become God; YES, you read this right; your eyes does not deceive you! God has

purposed that this thing created from the dust of the ground – called man, is to become just like God. This may sound like blasphemy of the highest level to think that man can become God, but this happens to be the truth; it is the truth of the Bible, and it is tied to the very Gospel of the kingdom of God that Jesus Christ proclaimed.

The Purpose of God

This subject of man becoming God could take an entire chapter or even an entire book could be written to more adequately explain this purpose of God, but due to time and space, the purpose here is to try an explain it in a shortened or get to the point way.

The purpose or the destiny of mankind is to become God; that man is to be born into the very family of God, and to understand this, I want to explain it by showing that the true Christians will be the very first among mankind that will be changed and made into Spirit to become an immortal member of the divine family of God; meaning to become God just as God is God.

As I said before, it could take a book or even several pages of writing to more adequately explain this purpose of God, but I just want to point out that the name for God – as used in Genesis 1:1, is Elohim, and it is written in the plural form meaning more than one person; it should actually read, “In the beginning Gods created….” (Gen. 1:1). This mean that the word God is a family name. For example, a family may go by the last name Johnson, but the Johnson family has more than one person in the family, but it is still one family of Johnson – even so is God; God is a family composed of two personages (God is not a trinity) – God and the Word (who later became Jesus Christ); you can read of these two personages in John 1:1,2, but for our purpose here, I want to point out that God’s supreme purpose in creating man is to enlarge or reproduce that God family into multiple billions; this is actually the supreme purpose of God, a purpose which begins with the true Christians and will then ultimately spread out to all of humanity. Now let us get to the heart of the matter and see how the saints of God are to be made God; let us look at the Scriptures that prove this awesome truth of God.

The Saints are to be Made God

The Bible tells us that Jesus came preaching the Gospel of the kingdom of God (Matt. 4:23). This Gospel that Jesus preached was the Gospel about a literal kingdom that would be ruled by God. Now consider this; we have the plant kingdom that is composed of plants; the animal kingdom composed of animals and even the various kingdoms or nations of the world are composed of mortal humans that are led by the leaders in the various Governments around the world – hence we have the kingdom of man which is composed of flesh; we are mortal. The kingdom of God that Jesus talked about then is not a kingdom composed of mortal human beings, but a literal kingdom of God that is composed of immortal Beings that will have been changed from flesh to Spirit or to be made God at the second coming of Jesus Christ – because flesh and blood cannot inherit God’s kingdom (1 Cor. 15:50). Romans 8:29 says, “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” Christ was the first to be made immortal at his resurrection and the true Christians are also to be resurrected to the same level as Christ was -meaning to become God just as he did. Notice it says, “… to be conformed to the image of his Son;” the word conformed means to be similar or to be fashioned just the same - meaning we are to be composed of the same Spirit that God is. Millions have read over this Scripture and have not grasped its significance.

Notice 1 John 3:2: “Beloved, now we are the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.” John wrote that we are to be just like Christ at his appearing; we shall be composed of the Same Spirit that Christ is; meaning we are to be God.

In Psalm 17:15 David wrote the similar thing – saying, “As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.” This word likeness comes from a Hebrew word pronounced temunah – which means image, embodiment, or likeness; the word is used to directly to represent God himself – for if you go to Deuteronomy 4:15, God says. “… for ye saw no manner of similitude on the Day that the Lord spake unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire.” The people of Israel did not see any resemblance or likeness of God when he came upon the mountain, but David said he is going to bear God’s likeness; David will become God – just as God is God.

If you go to Revelation 19:10 the apostle John made the mistake of bowing down to worship at the feet of an angel but was immediately told to not do this as God is the one who should be worshipped; this means that it is only God that man should worship. Now Jesus made an amazing statement that seems to run counter to this belief; notice what Jesus Christ said about his saints or true Christians that will have been made immortal at the second coming of Christ: “Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not … behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.” Here now is Jesus Christ saying his saints will be worshipped by mortal human beings; this statement could only be true – attesting to the fact that the Christians who are made immortal, are going to become God just like God the Father and Jesus Christ is God – because to worship any other than God would be blasphemy; this then means the Christians will become part of the God family; they will be in the God family of God and Christ, and will rule as gods over flesh or mortal humans or the rest of humanity that will be alive during the millennium; These flesh born humans will then come under the rule and authority of the saints – who themselves will forever be under the supreme authority of God the Father and Jesus Christ; and though the saints will become God, God the Father and Christ will always be the head or the boss over the rest of the God family – meaning the family of God or those who are made immortal - will never be equal to God in power or authority, but, nonetheless, they will be the same as God and Christ in spiritual composition.

When Jesus Christ comes to take over the Governments on this earth, he has promised that his saints are going to be rulers over cities and nations; for example, David is to rule over all the 12 tribes of Israel s their (Ezekiel 37:24); also, the 12 apostles are to be sitting on thrones ruling over each of the 12 tribes of Israel (Matt. 19: 28). David, the apostles and all the saints are going to become God and will be ruling over all flesh born humans, this is why Micah 4:5 says, “For all people will walk everyone in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the Lord our God forever and ever; this setting of the people walking in the name of his god is going to happen during the time of the millennial rule of Jesus Christ; David, the twelve apostles and all the true saints of God who are made immortal are going to be gods ruling over mortal humans as the first-fruit members of the divine family of God, and this first-fruit will themselves walk and live forever in the name of God the Father and Christ; then ultimately, all humans that are being ruled over, will also have the opportunity to become God during the millennium, and then God is also going bring back all the rest of humanity that have lived and died from the time of Adam until now and they too will have the opportunity to become God and join the God family. This is the AMAZING truth God the Father sent Jesus Christ to proclaim to humanity when he preached about the kingdom of God. Sadly, the world – including professing Christianity has not understood it; they preach a gospel about Christ and not the message of the Gospel of the kingdom of God; Here is the GREATEST and most AWESOME news that mankind could ever has been given, yet, Satan has deceived and blinded this world to this news.

Becoming God will bring us into the way God live; we will receive his benefits; we will radiate with supreme joy, happiness, and pleasure for all eternity; there will never be a moment of boredom or feelings of loneliness, but a life full of amazing wonder, joy, purpose, fulfillment and meaning forever and ever – as we will shine as the sun in all its glory and strength and have the eyes of God that will be like a flame of fire (see Rev. 1:14). This is WONDERFUL beyond WONDERFUL! How few there may be on this earth that understand this today.
