Many people suffer from obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). It is an anxiety disorder in which a person has an obsessive and/or compulsive need to do certain things at specific times. A person with OCD may even spend hours at a time being repetitive and it can be almost impossible for them to stop themselves. For instance, a person with OCD may feel the obsessive need to ramble on excessively about the same subject. They can be irrationally obsessed with everything.

Are you in a relationship where you are the one with OCD?

Do you really want to find help that will be able to guide you so that you don't ruin that relationship? Well, you have come to the right place!

Here is what you do. You make sure that you are honest with your significant other and tell them that you are dealing with OCD and that you are serious about beating it. Tell them that you don't want them to enable you and tell them not to help you perform rituals.

When you do this, tell them also that you would prefer if they were there for you emotionally telling you that you can do it and that they believe in you.

This should really help you get over this OCD.

Ask them to help you stop performing rituals and not just stand there and watch you do them. That way they can tell you later on if you give them a hard time that you asked them to stop you from doing rituals.

Make sure that you don't give them a hard time as they are one of the only people that you've got that can really help you, so don't turn your back on those that really care.

If you spend more time thinking about OCD, you need to realize that you can get away from this and kill that thought by not feeding it and that is simply by not thinking about it. You need to think about what you love and what makes you happy. The Bible says that whatever is lovely, pure, etc, think on these things. Well this is absolutely true!

What then can we do to stop thinking about negative things and start thinking on positive things? The first thing that we can do is to realize that even though the negative thought is there, we don't have to focus on it. We won't be able to make the thought go away, but what we can do is ignore it until it knows we won't feed it and it will go away.

Take action: Today what you can do is realize that the story of the two dogs is true in your mind and if you use the principles outlined above, your bout with OCD will be very short lived! When you apply these techniques to your relationship as long as with any type of OCD or anxiety, you will have victory. Your mate will be happy that you did this too!

No one knows for sure what causes Obsessive Compulsive Disorders but it does not seem to be hereditary. It can be triggered in many different ways in different people. Unfortunately OCD is under diagnosed and not everyone gets the treatment for OCD that they need. There are mental health professionals who know how to help people with OCD disorders and quite often people with OCD can also be given a prescription to anti-anxiety medicine that can help tremendously, even in bad cases.

If you believe that you may have some sort of OCD and it is interfering with your life, contact a mental health professional right away to learn about your options for getting help.
