Many women suffer from frequent UTIs. Nearly 20 percent of women who have a UTI will have another, and 30 percent of those will have yet another. Of the last group, 80 percent will have recurrences.

In a study that has been conducted by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), one factor that could be a reason for recurring urinary tract infections is the ability of the bacteria to attach to the cells that is lining the urinary tract.

Some of the symptoms that an infected person might experience is the uncomfortable pressure above the pubic bone especially in women, frequent urge to urinate, painful, burning feeling during urination and might also have an overall feeling of being tired, shaky, or washed out.

UTI can be treated with antibiotics however when a person has fever that is accompanying the infection, hospitalization might be necessary as fever indicates that the infection has already reached the kidney.
