Anti bark collars are used for dogs in training and discipline. Some owners find the barking of their dogs as a nuisance that is why they have acquired this type of collar for disciplinary purposes. Commercial anti bark collars are sold in stores. Each type of device is safe for the dogs to use. There are variations of how the anti barks collars do their part. All of these collars are battery operated. Here are the types of anti bark collars. The preference of the owners on what to buy is in their decision.
The e-collars
The electronic bark collars or e-collars are anti bark collars which use static electricity as its correction tool. Static electricity is experienced when you walk on a carpet and you touch another object having an opposite charge with that of the carpet. This electric shock is completely harmless but sure is attention getting, especially for the dog.
When the dog starts to bark, vibrations are sent to the collar triggering the electric shock and making the dog realize that when he barks a shock is associated with it making it think otherwise. The dog collar comes in 6 adjustable intensities of the static shock. A beep will warn the dog before the shock will be done. The psychological training of cause and effect apply to all the anti bark collars.
Citronella bark collars
Citronella is a plant based ingredient mainly used for perfume manufacturing. This liquid is quite strong for the olfactory senses of the canine pet. When the dog barks, the collar picks the sound with the built in microphone sending signals to spray the citronella to the dog's muzzle.
Ultrasonic bark collars
This type of bark collar uses sound as its tool for the correction of the dog. You may have noticed that dog whistles when used delivers a high pitched whistle that is not quite audible for the human ear but is clearly heard by the dog being whistled at. This is the theory behind the ultrasonic dog collars. The barking is tracked by the device in the collar and releases an ultrasonic sound which is irritating to the dogs making them stop barking or otherwise.
Anti bark collars come in different fitting designs for your dogs. They also have different marketing features like being water proof, durable and dog friendly. As mentioned, most dog collars with the anti bark features are battery operated to operate the sound sensors which are the main attraction of the device. Refills of citronella are also sold in the market.
