There are no reasons why cancer cannot be cured and defeated if diagnosed well. There are several medications to ensure all tumor cells are destroyed before they cannot be controlled. The several treatments are the following procedures:
Surgery
Surgical procedures are used in cases wherein the cancer cells are removed but not harming the duties of the organs that are affected to a great degree. Many kinds of breast cancer, cancer in the stomach, colon cancer, and others are treated by taking out the portion affected and use chemotherapy or radiation to destroy any cancer cells that loiter surrounding the tumor.
But, the surgeon will put into consideration the case of the patient through examination of all treatments that can be used for cancer and will select surgical operation only when it suits physically to the patient's condition.
Radiation
Radiation stops the tumor cells from further multiplication and reduces the pain in some kinds of cancer. After surgery, radiation is applied to stop some cancerous cells left in attacking again the body of the patient. This therapy is internally administered by either the use of catheter to bring the radioactive drugs to organ that is affected, or putting radioactive pills on the organ directly through surgical operation. This medication is called brachytherapy and kills tumor cells but affects adversely the organ around in some patients.
Chemotherapy
This medication involves giving the patient drugs intravenously or sometimes through pills. Harmful tumor cells can be destroyed by these drugs but sometimes the healthy cells are damaged. The doctors use this therapy only if it is proven that radiation or surgical operations are not useful if the tumor is very aggressive.
In some instances, the bone marrows of patients are damaged and the physician may transplant bone marrows that are healthy after the medication so that the patient will become healthy without the threat of the killer cancer.
Other Cancer Treatments
There are various treatments that may possibly be beneficial to the cancer patients and doctors are surely examining the possibilities and trying to apply it if needed.
Hormonal Therapy - the hormones which encourage the cancer growth are suppressed in this method.
Immunotherapy - this is a method in which the body was encouraged in fighting the cancerous cells on its own.
Alternative therapies - this treatment involves herbs along with the acupuncture. They are used by other patients as a treatment for their cancer, however, it does not have a long term studies that had been conducted with this method.
Cancer could be treated once the proper treatment has started at the right time. There have been several treatments and the proper treatment could be determined by the efficient doctors who understands the level of risk along with the benefits of the patients prior to getting on with a certain combination of the treatments.
