Meditation and The Emporers New Clothes

The Emporers Clothing was a childrens story that was written by Hans Christian Andersen (1805-75).

You might be wondering, what has the story of The Emporers New Clothes got to do with meditation?

Well, lets have a look. It can be scientifically proven, beyond any doubt, that meditation will improve your physical body, it calms your emotions and settles your nervous system. Meditation is worth doing for these benefits alone.

However, many people who meditate also claim that it supports their religious or spiritual beliefs, it enhances their faith, and often gives them some sort of spiritual insight. However, there is a problem here. All religions, faiths and dogmas rely on the follower, or aspirant, to die before they discover the whole truth, hopefully in heaven.

If you ask ten meditators about their beliefs, they will each give you their own version of their truth. They will give you their opinion of what they believe - based on their upbringing, current ideas and their own personal experience. This experience is often extremely limited and virtually none of their ideas can be proven.

People, the world over, are led to believe that they could never find out the truth for themselves. So they usually either (i) dismiss any possibility of finding out anything, (2) follow one of the religions or belief systems that they have heard of. These religions are almost all contradictory and full of anomolies. So, you do your best to fill in the gaps, to make sense of your meditation, with reasoning, guesswork, and often, religious dogma.

Ideas such as reincarnation, karma, soul, heaven, spirituality and God become nothing more than a personal belief or opinion. For example, if you ask for proof of reincarnation, you are told that none is available. If you ask for proof that you have a soul, you may often be frowned upon for challenging such a sacred idea.

Sometimes, it takes the simplicity of a child, to simply say the truth. And so it is with the story of The Emporers Clothes. A child points out what everyone else was ignoring. The unpleasant truth.

Before you read the story below, I want you to consider this. I am suggesting that there is a meditation technique available where you can go on an inner journey. Where you will discover - for yourself - the answers to lifes deepest questions. This meditation technique will take you to a place where you have never been before, where will discover the truth for yourself. No books, no laws, no holy men. Just you.

You will not need to fill in the gaps, you will not need to have faith, you will no longer need to believe the priests and holy men with their tired stories, because you will know the truth - thanks to Meditation.

Francis Taylor has been teaching meditation for over 15 years. He does not ask you to believe anything, rather he shows you how to meditate, then discover the truth about yourself - and life - for yourself.
