Does it seem like your new partner’s ex is hanging around? When it comes to starting a relationship with someone that has gone through a recent divorce watch for these red flags!

Many times when someone has gone thru a divorce and they are happening often these days a lot of pain and problems can carry into new relationships. Quite often, starting a new relationship with someone in which an ex husband or wife is still involved (i.e. when kids are involved) can be like moving through a battle field full of land mines. With many people getting remarried the problem with ex spouses affecting many relationships is a reality for some singles, here are few ideas to keep in mind:

Be sure to identify early in the dating process and then make a determination whether you partner appears to have some emotional baggage from a prior divorce. Not all people that have gone through a divorce have excess emotional baggage and are able to move forward with their lives and become involved in a long term loving relationship. If the person you are dating always brings up their ex spouse then this is a red flag that they are still working through the divorce process. Even things like they are keeping around pictures or other simple things of their ex is another sign that they have not moved on yet.

Forming new relationships always presents new challenges and obstacles on it’s own without somebody’s ex spouse getting in the way of your relationship that is why it is so important to be sure that the past is now past and your future together is clear of any obstacles from the past. Now with that said, just because someone is divorced does not mean you should not try and build a long term relationship with that person, it means that building a relationship could take longer because of the divorce obstacles that you both need to work at and overcome. If you want to give your new relationship the best chance of succeeding then you and your partner need to focus on starting it with past relationships issues resolved, this can be accomplished by waiting a certain amount of time before getting involved in the new relationship.

Typically, people that have just gone through a divorce will need somewhere around two years to be able to work through their divorce and get things back in order and ready to start a new relationship with a clean slate. Don’t let your feelings from a past divorce fool you, you want your next relationship to be the one that will last your lifetime and is filled with love, so get over any lingering feelings and issues you have and move forward to bigger and better things. Good Luck and Happy Online Personals Dating!
