The trail consists of a network of riverside and forests which are densely populated with several tree species. The trail ascends above 400 feet from the Chattahoochee River where it surrounds you with stunning views of the river and the rest of the habitat around it. The East Palisades Loop trail is located in the Fulton Country at the northwest where some wealthy homes of Georgia’s residents are situated. To get to the park, you are given to options where the entrance can start at Indian Trail and the other is at the Whitewater Trail. Taking the Indian Trail start point, the following trail is taken at a clockwise direction.
From the blue trail head blaze, make a descent to a root-strewn hill as it parallels along side with Long Island Creek at the bottom of this hill. Pace further to Whitewater Trail parking lot as the pathway crosses several bridges at the Long Island Creek. Just briefly after the final bridge, the footpath swerves to the Chattahoochee River bank. Yet the view at the river could be disappointing as pollution starts to meddle with its natural beauty where you might see some garbage floating on it. Perhaps it is attributed to the human settlements nearby.
As you move past the river bank, the path climbs up the hill to the right but always observing the blue blazes ahead. A series of switchbacks is then to be expected as you find your way to the top of East Palisades. At this point, a side path goes down some step to a viewing spot which offers you a stunning view of the river flow.
This overlook is also perfect for bird-watching and a panoramic shot of the whole place. Often times you may also hear military aircrafts passing by the area as this is situated near Dobbins Field. The junction I-285 and I-75 are also found at the north of the hill at Vinings which is one of the busiest roads in this area. At I-75 you will find a small bridge here crossing a small stream where you will find a fence on the other side of the bridge.
Along the footpath you will find the areas around the riverbank clustered with mountain laurel, rhododendrons, and flame azaleas during springtime. At this point, the trail ascends to a ridge where the path returns to the road at the parking lot. Swerve right on this footpath until you reach where you first started which is at the Whitewater parking lot.
If we have learned anything from recent flash floods and other tragedies it is that a reliable radio can save a life. We carry a variety of VHF, UHF and CB radios for sale. We also carry the more powerful 10 Meter Radios for those who feel they may need the extra broadcasting power.
