I Guess you’ve read about reborn babies. They seemed to appear like real newborns but aren’t. Because of the life like facet of these reborn baby dolls they’ve been mistaken for real babies.

Last July 2008 - Queensland, Australia, there was a report that a police broke a car window to salvage what seemed to be like an lifeless baby but later on found out that it was just a reborn doll. The police officer claimed that the doll was "unbelievably realistic". The people who’ve saw the incident were also anxious for the baby because they too thought that it was really a true one.

Unreal, yet so real! You might have seen couple of these reborn dolls in malls, supermarkets, or in the bazaars were they are being carried by mothers or placed in strollers as if they are real ones. They’re also settled in cars laying seatbelts on them so they can be protected from any untoward event. A few older women clothe the dolls and cleanse their hair. Certainly, these reborn baby dolls are well maintained and are well cared for as if they are real newborns - real babies.

Many of reborn doll owners are simply doll collectors. While quite a few used these dolls to take the place of a babe they once lost or have already grown up kids and miss their kid’s infanthood. And some could have gone through miscarriages and could not pay for adoption. Consequently they adopt reborn babies instead.

Adopting a reborn baby doll has stirred up social and psychological concerns. Studies report holding a baby triggers a release of hormones which create a sense of emotional happiness With that, some specialists think this may happen with life-like babies as well. Hence holding reborn dolls might initiate what is called as cuddle therapy.

Holding reborn baby dolls may help sorrowful mothers to cheer them of their loneliness. Yet, many child bereavement counselors inform parents against substituting their deceased child with dolls. Reborn dolls should only denote a step to the grieving process and that parents ought not be entirely attached to their reborn as it could mean their grief is not getting treated at all.
