Let's face it, incandescent torch bulbs are old technology. They chew through batteries and require replacing regularly because they burn out. Battery LED lights have finally come to the party and offer us a replacement lighting technology with none of the draw backs of the incandescent bulb.
The D size batteries required to give you a decent amount of light with a heavy cumbersome torch are no longer needed. A decently powerful torch can now fit in your pocket and ways very little. Good news if you're a hiker.
Battery operated LED lights are also extremely tough. If you drop your torch you can be sure that the light source has not shattered. If you need a torch that can work in all weather conditions many LED torches are made to be waterproof.
Battery powered LEDs have also become useful in the home. A small solar powered system will easily run a few battery powered LEDs around the house. If you find yourself in an emergency situation where the power is out for a while you will always have a source of light. Even a small solar power system with storage batteries will be able to run a few lights, a radio, portable tv and will even keep your phones charged up as well.
Caravans and RVs can also make great use of the new technology and because they run off 12 volts there is no need to use an inverter to power them. This creates an even greater gain because inverters lose about 10% of a battery's power in the conversion process.
So whatever your needs; whether you're a camper, hiker, RV tourer or you just want an alternative light source for the home there is a battery powered LED built just right for you.
Battery powered LED string lights are great for tent campers with young children. Surrounding the tent with the string lights will create a visible no go area. Your children will know that if they go inside the lights then they will trip over the guy ropes. It also helps adults find their way during those inevitable late night or early morning trips.
