The greatest motivation is due to the fact that driving a semi-truck across country pays very well. Most truck drivers earn an average of $35,000 or more in their first year of driving. It is not difficult to figure out that if a driver makes such a large salary in the first 12 months, that they are likely to earn $10,000 to $15,000 more after only a few more years of driving. Seasoned, expert truckers who own their truck and trailer are earning well over $100,000 a year.

Driving is significantly good money, since it is not difficult to learn how to drive an 18 wheeler and obtain a CDL license. If it is undesirable to be away from home on the weekends, there are companies who provide flexible schedules. Some driving jobs allow a driver to be home every night. It’s important to find out upfront, what the schedule requirements are. Even though a company is willing to be flexible, it should be understood, the more flexible the driver is the more money they will earn for being adaptable to the company’s schedule.
