Juneau Alaska fishing offers five species of salmon, rock-fish, Halibut, Steelhead and Dolly Varden. If you are new to Alaska or just want to have a good fishing time, a charter is recommend. An experienced charter boat captain as your fishing guide is the best solution to go.
You can expect to catch fish in both saltwater and freshwater. And the most targeted is king salmon. However, silver salmon, halibut, rockfish, and even shrimp and crab offer great adventures. Freshwater fishing is also available in numerous rivers, creeks, and lakes in and around Juneau area.

Here are some Juneau freshwater fishing areas
Windfall Lake: Silver salmon, Rainbow Trout, Cutthroat Trout, Dolly Varden and Steelhead are providing by Windfall Lake. You can fish from shore and by small boat.
Cowee Creek: During the salmon runs, salmon fishing is excellent in Cowee creek. Angler offer great fishing opportunities of Coho salmon, Pink salmon and chum salmon. If you are fly fishermen than you can target for Dolly Varden and cutthroat trout.
Fishing in Fish Creek: King Salmon, Chum Salmon, Pink Salmon, Cutthroat Trout and Dolly Varden are the species you may expect to fish in this creek.
Montana Creek Fishing: Montana creek provides you with five species of salmon. Other than that species you still can go with Rainbow Trout, Cutthroat Trout, Dolly Varden, and Steelhead right in this heart of Juneau.
Peterson Creek: These Creek has runs of smaller Coho, chum and Pink Salmon as well. And you may also be able to fish for Dolly Varden, Cutthroat Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Steelhead.
Juneau Saltwater Fishing Areas
Gastineau Channel: There is a good fishing opportunities for Salmon and halibut in this deep water fjord. However you need to pay attention on fishing regulation in certain area.
Eagle Beach and Sunshine Cove: This area offers fishing for Salmon and Halibut as well. Trolling cut plug herring with a large flasher is often quite productive.
Auke Bay: Both Salmon fishing and Halibut fishing can be done in this bay. Cut plug herring is popular for silver salmon bait.
Outer Point: You can jig for Coho salmon, troll for Chinook salmon, fish the bottom for rockfish and halibut. Crab fishing and shrimping is also popular in this area for personal use.
