A happy horse sees his owner as a part of his heard, ideally the 'heard leader', and licking and gnawing are indicators of a pony submitting to your leadership.

Other signs include being respondent and calm, a decreased head, soft eyes and relaxed jaw.

A happy horse will often appear calm and be respondent to you. When ecstatic, your pony will keep his head decreased, his jaw relaxed and have soft eyes. A happy horse that is targeted on you while riding is much less sure to rear.

A happy pony will seek tenderness from you and show respect by not invading your private space. A pony isn't showing he's bored by yawning rather this is an indication of relaxation and calm. A pony which is ecstatic is less sure to hurt itself or be subject to colds and illnesses. A pony who has a satisfactory relationship with you may work for you and win for his rider from the age of 2, to twenty-two and beyond! It's right you can just have a ride or you may have a relationship. A happy horse is a horse that's eating and moving with a purpose. To realize a satisfied pony desires coaching of not just the pony, but also the owner and riders.
