When your child is not ready for kindergarten, and you are considering their education, the subject of preschoolling comes up many conversations. Some are adamant that children should attend preschool for many reasons. Others are content with waiting to put a child in school until they are ready for regular kindergarten.

The subject can raise a lot of opinions from opposing sides. A lot of people feel that if your child is not in preschool then you are a bad parent and denying them the opportunity to be a high achiever. They question parenting skills all of a sudden and doubt that a child will be ready for their primary education.

Others argue in the opposite end of the spectrum that they would like their child to be able to be a child for as long as possible. Putting them in school before the average age of five is a waste of time and they should be allowed to play and be at home. They may feel that pushing a child to over achieve is putting too much stress on them when they should be allowed to be creative and imaginative.

The truth is there is no right or wrong answer. You as a parent need to make the decision to what works best for you household. Each child is different. Where some children may benefit from preschool others would be traumatized by it. Some parents both work and they do not have a choice and feel if their child is away from them they might as well be educated and have a head start on their schooling.

Preschool can teach socialization to a child who does not have that experience outside of the home. For this child it is a good idea for him or her to interact with their peers and learn behavioral skills. A child can also enjoy this time and look forward to seeing their friends in a fun learning environment.

This is not a reason on its own. If your child has siblings or other friends outside of the home that they see often then they are learning socialization skills. Group settings such as a church environment can also help. You can also do educational learning at home, which your child can be just as prepared for primary school, if not more extensively, depending on the program.

The debate of preschoolling will rage on, as people stay committed to their opinions. However, you should not let someone sway you into a situation that you do not want to be in. As a parent it is your ultimate decision whether you place your child into a preschool environment or not.
