There is an old adage that sales make the world go around. In many ways that is a true statement. Sales, at least, make the business world go around. but it is profit that greases the wheel.

Unless they are a non-profit operation, the mission statement rarely varies.

Given that focus is on the same direct goal, it stands to reason that an education in business administration is one of the most broadly applied areas of study in any collegiate field today. At its essence, our economy is a series of profit centers and very often the same operational principles apply universally. Technical training in business administration methods is one of the core educational services of the post-secondary education system. Good administrators are in constant demand and are not necessarily confined to one industry.

Business administration careers have historically been applied successfully by many individuals in various economic fields. Even an associate degree in this academic area can lead to a very successful career for any individual, especially as a companion degree for a niche industry or in combination with previous work experience.

The traditional MBA is generally considered to be in most demand in the business administration career field, but many companies are much more interested in the potential employee with an associate or technical training. In some cases, an MBA could be too much. Employers are often drawn more to individuals who are pragmatic and still goal-oriented.

One thing to remember in this educational discipline is that the employment spectrum is broad, but most individuals entering employ on a management level are still in training for some time. Each company has its own form of branding and the general models taught in business administration schools will be applied by company specifications. Beginning employees are often just prospective long-term employees. Education should create some advantage in terms of training.

The outlook for the current economy indicates that employers are in greater need than ever before for properly trained management professionals. Of all of the educational programs that an individual could consider, a two-year technical degree could easily offer more for the successful student in terms of employment latitude or job placement.

Technical degrees can always be converted into bachelors degrees after completion of the extra curriculum, which is a typical method of professional upgrade. Professional upgrades are standard in many employment fields and it is always important to maintain core curriculum credit to sustain a successful business administration career.
