Approximately 15% of the population have problems with arthritis pain and are looking for a selection of reliable solutions.
Arthritis is characterized by joint stiffness, inflammation, swelling and pain. The most common form is osteoarthritis, which is degenerative wear and tear of the joints and usually occurs from middle age onwards. If it is not treated, it usually gets much worse.
In this article, you should be able to find some simple treatments, to ease the pain and the tension.
There are some types of food that are very beneficial in preventing and treating arthritis. A very useful supplement to your daily diet is omega 3 oil, which is rich in Vitamins A and D.
The common source of omega 3 oils is oily fish such as trout, salmon or sardines. If you
don't get at least two portions of fish per week, consider taking cold pressed flaxseed oil
every day.
Other recommended types of food are the yellow and fresh green vegetables that provide vitamin C, beta carotene and other antioxidants that reduce cell damage.
Try to eat at least two servings a day. Also eat plenty of grapefruit or other fresh fruit for getting your supply of citrus flavonoids. These are substances that augment the antioxidant effect of vitamin C.
Zinc, which is present in peas, is an important mineral for the immune system. Other zinc sources are oysters, milk and whole wheat products.
One of the best cures for arthritis is losing some weight. Any excess weight will inflame the
joints and increase the pain.
Some foods are linked to arthritis, particularly eggplant, tomatoes, peppers, potatoes and tobacco.
You may be allergic if your arthritis worsens and improves after eating those foods. Also try to avoid vegetable oil that contains omega-6 fatty acids, which aggravate the arthritis symptoms. These include salad dressings, margarine and olive oil.
Exercise and massage on the particular areas are one of the most efficient remedies for arthritis.
Applying heat, either with a special pad or in a hot bath, will stimulate the circulation and ease the pain. You can draw out the toxins and relieve the muscle pain with the help of a hot bath with Epsom Salts.
There is a substance called parafango, which combines paraffin and mud and it is very helpful too. The paraffin hardens when you apply it and thus it keeps the mud in its place. Keep the mud on for about 30 minutes, then take a warm shower and try to get
some sleep.
Aromatherapy uses essential oils as lotions and they are also one of the treatments for arthritis. They penetrate the skin and heal the soreness in the joints. Juniper oil relieves the swelling and Sandalwood improves circulation.
