While assault rifles, snipers, and machine guns are all standard and important equipment in a war game, another gear called Airsoft mini-gun has also proven its worth as part of players’ weaponry. This mini-gun is designed after the barrel-style types of machine guns that are used by soldiers in real-life battles. It is notable for providing the same feel, effects, and actions that real life machine guns provide. This type of mini-gun has also become attractive to individuals who are into collecting Airsoft artillery.

The very first few Airsoft mini-guns, which could fire 6mm plastic pellets, were manufactured by Asahi Firearms Co. back in the early 90s. Then called Asahi mini-guns, Airsoft mini-guns looked like the M134 used by real-life soldiers. They had complex designs and were powered by small DC batteries. The huge benefits and many interesting features they had made them so popular that many manufacturers have also started to make their own versions of Airsoft mini-guns. Later versions of Airsoft mini-guns are already powered by electric motor instead of DC batteries.

Airsoft mini-guns may be termed mini-guns, but they are not really mini or small. They are, in fact, easily distinguishable for their enormous weight and size. One Airsoft mini-gun can’t even be handled and managed by one person. It needs to be mounted on a tripod that is specifically designed for mini-guns. Airsoft mini-guns are also remarkable for their excellent fire rate, which is actually the reason why they’ve become attractive particularly to war game enthusiasts. They can produce a fire rate of more than 3,000 rounds per minute.

Airsoft mini-guns are also called Airsoft Gatling guns or chain guns. Most of today’s Airsoft mini-guns are already built with electric motor, providing constant ammunition to the mini-guns’ chamber while continuously rotating the barrels. Such capabilities of Airsoft mini-guns allow for excellent firing mechanism, making them perfect for easy firing and spraying of bullets at enemies and increasing the team’s chances of winning the battle. Another interesting feature of these mini-guns is their ability to shoot at varied distances. They’re able to shoot from 200 fps to 700 fps.

With their interesting features and exceptional benefits, the Airsoft mini-guns can truly be a real treat to gun collectors and excellent additions to Airsoft players’ weaponry. It’s sad to say though that, primarily due to its large size, only a few companies manufacture them. Piper’s Precision Products currently has two types of Airsoft mini-guns in production. The first one is the compact Airsoft mini-gun called Venom, which fires at 350 fps and has a cyclic fire rate of 75 rounds per second. The second one is the M134-A2, which is a replica of the earlier M134 mini-guns, but with enhancements in its designs. M134-A2 can fire both plastic Airsoft pellets and steel BBs at the speed of 42 rounds per second and at 280 fps to 600 fps.

The price of an Airsoft mini-gun generally starts from $4,500 to $6,000. Many, however, especially artillery collectors, are not at all intimated by such an enormous price. For these individuals, having this type of mini-gun in their collection can prove to be great investments. These can help them make a lot of money, especially in the future when Airsoft mini-guns are predicted to be considered merely collectible items instead of important equipment for Airsoft battles.
