Dump trucks play an important role in the mining and construction industries. They are considered to be at the root of development in a progressive construction world. Without this vehicle, growth in the construction industry would progress at a very slow pace. The primary function of this truck is to transport and haul loose material; however, with its advanced development, creative design has allowed for unique features and high performance delivery.
The different types of dump trucks have been designed in such ways to fit many different individual business needs. Whatever the infrastructure of a business may be, the body of this vehicle should be custom-designed to meet those needs. For the construction industry, dump truck bodies should have quality standards and precise specifications.
Different Types
The multifaceted bodies are recognized by the tasks that they can perform. Some of the most common types of dump truck bodies are listed as follows:
• Flatbed - This is a comprehensive dump body outfitted to do on-demand jobs. Wide loads can be placed on the platform and the platform floor can be customized into smooth steel or steel over wood depending on individual needs.
• Conventional - This form is commonly used in the transportation of loose material such as dirt, sand, gravel, tree limbs, sidewalk concrete and cement for construction purposes. A conventional dump body is created simple, stable and safe. It delivers an increased hauling versatility and increased payload capacity.
• Contractor - This arrangement is similar to the flatbed type other than having short sides which come in different heights such as 12, 14 and 16 inches for easy loading and unloading of heavy material. The high tensile steel fold-down sides have a centralized quick-release lever to easily re-attach and fold down the side wall. This body has a sleek style, high quality, and extended durability for optimum performance.
• Landscape – This particular model is designed and built to become a multi-functional vehicle. The dump body can be loaded or unloaded from the rear or sides and can withstand the excessive demands of hand use.
• Detachable - This type is the most advanced dump truck body system since it can be easily interchanged with a different style in a matter of minute. The advantage of this type of system is its lower loading angle, easiness of installation, and lower cost.
Size
The size of the dump body system differs depending on the type of truck body. The sizes differ according to size in order to support different operations. This is the reason it is necessary to determine the design and the capacity of the truck that will be purchased.
In selecting the right dump body for any used dump truck, it is necessary to know the specific operations that the truck will perform. There are several designs and shapes available on the market and they can be obtained either directly from the manufacturer or from a distributor. There are also companies who customize them to meet specific standards needed in a business. Whatever the needs, be sure to determine and find the correct dump body system that is needed!
