Forest industries in the United States use large, heavy machines to accelerate the process of felling trees and processing timber efficiently. Wood is used by many manufacturers for a wide variety of products. Taking advantage of used forestry equipment can aid in a company’s work potential while spending less money for machinery acquisition.

Problems in the Woods

In the United States and all over the world, deforestation is causing a lot of problems. There is a very high demand for wood in America. In fact, both homes and businesses have large needs for the resulting products. To meet this increasing demand, the woodlands where endangered species of both plants and animals thrive are being destroyed every day.

Rapid deforestation caused by the human population results in a great price being paid by Mother Nature. Carbon dioxide mixed with other pollutants is increasing in our atmosphere, while there is a scarcity of a supply of earth’s oxygen. Other natural disasters such as fires, floods and landslides are increasing everywhere. Many trees are cut down and used for homes and offices and these unchecked human actions have resulted in negative natural consequences.

Awareness and Reforestation

The effects of deforestation have been studied and presented to the public. Low quantities of fresh air and water and the chemical contamination of foods are several of these effects. Many people in the United States are becoming aware that they are causing the cutting-down of too many trees which is in general contributing to the pollution of the environment - and little to no action is being taken to remedy this damage. The ‘green’ movement has somewhat changed how people think about the environment; people are becoming more aware about the way they consume, how they build their homes and use their cars.

Many companies have been quite responsive and supportive of this green movement. In the United States, many logging companies have started to acquire used forestry equipment that is built to consume less fuel and release a substantially smaller amount of pollutants into the atmosphere. Companies are beginning to replant trees or practice reforestation and responsibly reverse the damage that has been done to the environment.

Forestry Equipment Usage

There are several types of used forestry equipment that are commonly found in the industry. Bucket trucks are very popular; there are also other machines that companies use for clearing or felling trees. Chippers and grinders are used for clearing trees by loggers. Smaller branches and tree limbs are fed into this machine and processed into mulch, which is then sold to garden retailers or individuals who need it for landscaping purposes.

Another important and unique piece of equipment used widely for large logging and land-clearing jobs is the feller buncher. These powerful machines cut down trees and actually are a substitute for a logger using a chainsaw to do the same process. Grapples are another piece of equipment that can hold several bunches of logs and load them into a forwarder which will move the load from one area to another or to log mills.

Awareness of what is happening in our environment can motivate each person and business alike towards a movement to restore our earth. Choosing used forestry equipment for any woodlands job is a green move and at the same time, very important in quickly finishing tasks in a much safer and greener fashion!
