Bandwidth
Cisco Catalyst 2960-24TT and 2960-24TC switches have a forwarding bandwidth of 8.8 Gbps. The 2960-48TT and 2960-48TC have a forwarding bandwidth of 17.6 Gbps and the 2960G-24TC has a bandwidth of 32 Gbps. When using 64-byte packets, the 2960-24TT and 2960-48TT have a forwarding bandwidth of 6.5 Mpps. The 2960-24TC and 2960-48TC have a bandwidth of 10.1 Mpps, while the 2960G-24TC has a bandwidth of 35.7 Gbps with 64-byte packets.
Hardware
The Cisco Catalyst 2960 series of switches has a 32 Gbps switching fabric. These units utilize 32 MB of flash memory and 64 MB of DRAM. This hardware is capable of configuring up to 255 IGMP groups and 8,000 MAC addresses. Maximum Ethernet frame size is 9,018 bytes when bridging with Gigabit Ethernet ports. The 2960 series has a maximum transmission unit of 9,000 bytes and up to 1,998 bytes for multiprotocol label switching with both 10/100/1000 and 10/100 ports.
Features
The Cisco Catalyst 2960 series switch features Cisco Express Setup, which allows setup and configuration of switches through a web browser, making it easier for those who are not familiar with terminal emulation programs. The CiscoWorks Support feature enables users to manage individual ports and switches while automating switch discovery. Cisco Network Assistant software is included with these switches, streamlining network administration for up to 250 users. Cisco IOS software is integrated into the system to help users optimize their bandwidth.
Construction and Operational Limits
Cisco Catalyst 2960 series switches are 17.5 inches wide, 9.3 inches deep and 1.73 inches tall, with the exception of the 2960G-24TC, which has a depth of 12.9 inches. All of these switches weigh 8 lbs., except the 2960G-24TC, which weighs 10 lbs. The operating altitude for these switches is 10,000 feet and the storage altitude is 15,000 feet. The operating relative humidity is between 10 percent and 85 percent and the operating temperature is between zero and 45 degrees Celsius. These units have a minimum storage temperature between -25 degrees Celsius and 70 degrees Celsius.
