"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money."- Matt.6:19-24(NIV).

God needs us to serve His purpose rather money, and money and all it represents will serve us. Let us look at this analogy. Matt.6:33 says, ‘Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well.’- (NIV). Imagine a group of about twenty people standing in pairs facing each other, forming two straight lines with each pair holding a stretched rope tightly at both ends. Now imagine you as the free person among them making the number twenty-one in all.

Each individual in the pairs represents a blessing of God, for example a car, a wife, a house, husband, children, joy, peace, a job, degree, or diploma, money, you know and so on.

Now we struggle and spend or waste so much time going after these blessings just like those who do not know God (Matt.6:32) and truth is that sometimes they get them, that is those that can be got from here on earth (Matt.6:19). However that is not God’s plan for us.

God intends that as we walk the straight path, in line with His will and purpose, we will attract these blessings to ourselves just like the free individual walking through the pairs and pulling the other individuals to himself courtesy of the ropes. Deut.28:2 says, ‘All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you will obey the Lord your God:’- (NIV).

A true vision is one that goes in line with the two greatest commandments in the Old Testament of the Bible, which say love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself (Matt.22:34-40).

A true vision is a revelation or insight about one’s purpose and calling and its fulfillment given by God to him which glorifies or honors God and which blesses men ( and other creation ) with the individual in the middle, being blessed and receiving glory and honor (reward). In other words, he is blessed with that with which he is to be a blessing and enjoys honor or reward from God. God is not afraid to give you the credit. Abraham was blessed, and was made a blessing by God (Gen.12:1-3).

God blesses you, yes for your enjoyment but, to fulfill His purpose(s). Your sustenance and increase lie in the fulfillment of your purpose for being. No businessman gives or invests money with you for you to go and do whatever you like but for the reason he invested with you. God is that way. There’s an investment God has made in you and He is looking for the returns. Don’t turn him down or you will pay (Matt.25:14-30).

The only way to fulfill our purpose in God is to keep our eyes on Jesus (Heb.12:2) because in Him is our purpose and its fulfillment. ‘For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.’- Eph.2:10(NIV). Any vision or ambition which you cannot keep seeing when you keep your eyes on Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith is not of God and should be dropped.

Don’t forget this: God needs us to do things that are of eternal value rather than things that are just of earthly, temporary value (Matt.6:19-24).
