Your daughter is getting married. Congratulations. You must be horribly busy trying to figure out how to organize her wedding without mortgaging your house and selling your first-born. On top of that, you have to choose a wedding gift. With your luck, your friends’ daughter just came back from her wedding/honeymoon in Italy. All she talks about is the wedding in Murano. The photos are all over you house and your daughter is sending you meaningful looks. So, as a good father would, you did a bit of research about Murano.
An hour boat ride from the ancient Venice, in Italy, lies a small archipelago of five islands called Murano. Islands have been home to the most famous glassmakers in the world since 13th century. But, the romance of Murano does not end with its precious glass art. Its ancient palaces and churches are famous for its spectacular wedding ceremonies. The Wedding Hall of Murano is housed in the eight hundred years old byzantine palace, with a Gothic façade of red brick and tall windows looking over the lagoon at the Ponte Vivarini. Incredibly romantic, and yours for the wedding for thousands and thousands of dollars.
Unfortunately, regardless of how much you love your daughter, you cannot afford to offer her a Murano wedding as a gift. She is a sensible girl, she would understand, but you have to make it up to her with really original wedding gift, something that would make her rightfully compete with her friend, who is driving everyone crazy with her story of Murano. So, why not bring Murano to your daughter?
Murano glassmakers create today the magic from glass the same way they did it eight hundred years ago. Very little has changed, except the fashion, perhaps, although copies of ancient designs are still available. The choice is huge: from spectacular chandeliers, to colorful figurines, even glass wall clocks and picture frames. But, it is with their jewelry that Murano glassmakers are making the most impression to the world of today.
If your daughter has a home, Murano famous chandelier is the best wedding gift you could possible give her. Each chandelier is unique, and this exquisite glass fantasies are decorating some of the most famous palaces and homes of the rich and famous of the world, like Kate Hudson, prince Aga Khan, or American Ambassador in Rome.
If you want to offer your daughter Murano jewelry as a wedding gift, you would have to let her choose. The pieces are so breathtakingly beautiful, she might decide to design her wedding dress to fit one of them. If she lets you choose for her, you will have to decide between emerald necklaces with matching earrings, Ca d’oro gold collection of old gold with glass pearls of all colors of the rainbow, or millefiori pendants on gold chain, with its thousands of little flowers, the choice is spectacular.
For you, your daughter is beautiful, whatever she chooses to wear to her wedding. Your only wish is that she is happy. You could do nothing about her choice of a husband, but at least you could put the smile on her face with your wedding gift. Her beautiful smile will be reflected in the magnificent Murano jewelry around her neck in all the wedding photos for years to come.
