There Might be a Simple Answer

Have you noticed that his erection isn’t as strong as it used to be?

There are several medical conditions that can cause erectile dysfunction, which of course should be investigated by a doctor.

But...

It could be because, after the age of thirty, men experience a rise in a substance called Sex Binding Hormone Globulin, or SHBG

SHBG binds or attaches to hormones, and carries them to different receptor sites on cell membranes throughout a mans body, where they can be utilized in different ways.

The effect it has depends on which hormone it binds to.

In this case Testosterone.

Testosterone is an important hormone that has an effect on a mans whole body.

It's produced in his testicles, and adrenal glands. Testosterone is to men what estrogen is to women.

Testosterone is essential for normal sexual behavior and producing erections.

Men start to lose Bio available testosterone, (Which is basically freely circulating testosterone.) at a rate of about one percent per year after the age of thirty.

(If you’ve been with your man since he was young. I’m sure you will have noticed among other things, a ‘slow down’ in his ability to achieve repeated erections)

It also affects many of his metabolic functions, such as production of blood cells in the bone marrow, and bone formation.

It also helps to build protein, and metabolize carbohydrates

So, if his levels of usable testosterone are declining, then it’s a reasonable assumption that he will have some decline in the functions which need testosterone.

Resulting in:

  • Lower sex drive

  • Reduced muscle mass and strength

  • Increased body fat

  • Emotional, psychological, and behavioral changes.

Another effect of SHBG in men, is that Estrogen and Dihydrotestosterone (A more concentrated form of testosterone) bound up in SHBG, are carried to the receptor sites on his prostate gland.

Where, if it accumulates in large enough amounts, it can stimulate prostate tissue cells to divide and grow rapidly. Resulting in an Enlarged Prostate...

All ‘symptoms’ of middle age.

The good news is, that they can all be slowed down, and possibly improved, by adopting a slightly healthier lifestyle.

Testosterone levels have been shown to improve if a man

Undertakes an exercise regime

Exercise stimulates testosterone production.

So if you want to keep his testosterone levels up then you need to get him to exercise.

Eats a healthier diet with good levels of protein

Eating enough protein will also help to keep his testosterone levels up. He needs protein to produce testosterone.

Also it helps to negate production of SHBG

Low SHBG = higher Testosterone

Eating lots of cruciferous vegetables such as...

Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, collards, kale, kohlrabi, mustard greens, rapeseed, rutabaga, and turnip.

Will help to boost free testosterone levels, as these contain a substance called Indole-3-carbinol. A phyto-chemical known to help increase the production of Testosterone. Eating two servings a day of the various cruciferous vegetables as part of his normal diet will achieve this.

Another benefit of a healthier more active lifestyle is that he is much more likely to be fit and active in old age.

Great but how do you get him to do it.

The best way to get him to do something is if you do it too.

We men being the pathetic, simple, creatures that we are, often need a bit of subtle guidance and steering.

We are also masters of denial, and procrastination. So when it comes to actually changing our lifestyle, we usually need it doing for us.

We need to be pushed slowly, almost unnoticeable, in the right direction.

For instance, suggest you both go for a walk. Once you have got him out make it a regular thing.

The habit will do you good too.

The same applies to his diet.

If you tell him he has to go on a diet he wont go for it.

but if you slowly start to introduce better eating habits he wont notice.

So the bottom line is…

If you want him to have a stronger sex drive, and better erections…

Get him off his butt and make him eat better.
