It's all about choice! A civil wedding ceremony allows you complete freedom of choice in all aspects of your ceremony. It is your wedding, you are the reason for, and the focus of the ceremony. It's up to you to choose the wedding celebrant, the date, the time, the place, the words, the music and how you wish the marriage ceremony to be conducted. Work with your wedding celebrant to include any poems, readings, music, or cultural symbols if you wish and family and friends may participate.

The venue for the wedding ceremony is limited only by your imagination - home, garden, park, reception centre, restaurant, hotel, tourist attraction, beach, golf club, bowls club, and former church buildings (i.e. Churches which no longer belong to a religion) are available. The place may have a special significance to you. If you have chosen an outside venue, please have an alternative venue organised in case of inclement weather.

No two marriage wedding celebrants are the same. Like you, wedding celebrants are individuals, so choose a wedding celebrant who is committed to high standards and who suits you personally. You need to feel relaxed and confident that your celebrant will carry out your wishes - and also give you the best advice. Celebrants should give you complete choice and encourage you to have a ceremony that reflects your feelings, beliefs and personalities.

Every ceremony is unique. Celebrants love celebrating marriages and consider it an honour to be part of your special day. Most wedding celebrants are excellent and do their best to give you the most beautiful ceremony they can. Celebrants are people, and different civil celebrant suit different people. Not all are the same, and they differ in their approach. The best way to find yourself someone suitable without inconveniencing a celebrant is to make a simple phone call. Ask questions and make a short list of wedding celebrants to meet.

When ringing to book a celebrant have a number of alternative times available if you can. (70% of weddings take place on a Saturday - most requested time 3- 5pm and September/ October and March/April are the most popular). Alternative dates and times can give you a greater choice of celebrants.

The fees charged by Marriage Celebrants vary enormously. If you ask careful questions you will find that some celebrants will spend an indeterminate time with you to craft your ceremony to perfectly suit your requirements. Choose the celebrant who will work with you both and one that you feel totally comfortable with. It's your day !
