You would only want the best on your wedding day. And, getting the right band to set the perfect wedding mood would surely give you that. Choosing the right band to play in your wedding is both a challenging and critical task. You can’t just close your eyes and start shooting pins at pictures of your local wedding bands. This certain task calls for a little chat with your fiancée or fiancé, as the case may be. Over a cup of coffee, you can both work on your wedding repertoire and get the right band to play it for you. Here are simple and fun tips on how to hire the ideal wedding band for your dream wedding.

Decide on the wedding ‘feel’. Before picking up your phone and dialing wedding bands in your area, you must first decide what kind of atmosphere you would want to create. Do you want your guests to dance? Or do you want to indulge in a more sophisticated feel? You can choose from chamber music to jazz to rock ‘n’ roll. Just go with what kind of music you and your guests will enjoy and you will never go wrong.

Hit the internet. Most professional wedding bands are setting up their own websites for better access. You can watch audios and video samples on these sites. This way you will have an idea on how the band performs and whether they will perfectly fit in to the wedding ‘feel’ you want to create. The internet will also provide you with plentiful choices and detailed information on these bands. Remember, the more information you could gather the better the choice you could make.

Book ASAP. Don’t put off calling the band of your choice! Band’s popularity had hit an all-time high. You need to have them booked as early as possible. It is also better to have a short list on the bands you would want to hire. This way, if your first choice turns out to be unavailable, you can always call somebody else.

Once your wedding date had been put in nice and easy on your wedding band’s appointment schedule, you have to also follow them up as often as needed. Give them the list of your repertoire so they can practice on it. Better yet, schedule to see them on practice. This way, you can ensure that your wedding music is played the way you like it.

Great point about having a band short-list - as bands can be booked 6-8 months in advance, you want to make sure you are covered if your first preference is unavailable. However, instead of seeing the band rehearse after you've booked them, I generally recommend seeing them before. This ensures that you will have your ideal atmosphere set on the night.
