Marriage is one of the most significant events in most peoples' lives, a joyous celebration, however for various reasons in due course they also end in divorce. According to NationMaster.com statistics, divorce rates across the world are at all time highs. Because of these divorce risks, it is prudent to be well prepared before becoming married.

Indonesia Private Investigators have seen sharp increases in requests for marital status checks from foreign customers and overseas Indo with the investigations often focusing on girlfriends and fiancees. With the high degree of fraud in Indonesia, verifying someone's current marital status and history is an important security decision. Proceeding with a marriage to a Indo girl without one can be very costly.

Most people think of marriage as the ultimate emotional and spiritual bond. They are looking to a life of happiness. However, when faced with negotiating a premarital agreement, they realize that not only do they have to decide what will happen to them when they divorce or die, but they also have to negotiate these issues with their fiancé. It's just not what people are thinking about when they are getting married. If you are foreign nationality and plan to marry an Indonesian spouse, you need to get a prenuptial agreement. Considering foreigners are not allowed to have a property in Indonesia, and if you wish to take the quite sensible precaution of a prenuptial agreement for the purpose of protecting yourself and your properties in the event that one of you dies, a prenuptial agreement is a must-have choice. The Indonesian government can, by law, take virtually everything away from the grieving party because they did not create such a protective document PRIOR to marriage. In Indonesia, all marriages have to be performed in a religious ceremony before they can be registered with the Civil Register Office. Five religions in Indonesia: Islam, Christian, Hindu, and Buddhism. All religious marriages, except Muslim ones, must be registered with the relevant district Civil Register Office to make it valid and legal under Indonesian Law. Islamic marriages are conducted under the auspices of the Office of Religious Affairs and are not subject to Civil Registration. Islamic marriage is only valid if the marriage is registered with the Religious Affairs Office, Kantor Urusan Agama. Any religious ceremony conducted by a Penghulu, or Islamic leader, is not legally recognized by the Indonesian government unless it is registered and it will pose a problem when you want to register your child with the Indonesian Civil Registry Office. Indonesia does not permit a marriage of a couple of different religions, and muslims in Indonesia are allowed to have 4 wives.

The Civil Registrar will issue original marriage certificates to both husband and wife. For Muslim marriages, the office of Religious Affairs will issue a "Buku Nikah" to both husband and wife.

When considering hiring a Indonesia detective to do the work for you, it is a good idea to check their location first. Many are based in the United States or Europe, not in the Indonesia or even Southeast Asia, so the first step is to make sure it's possible to speak with someone that is actually in the Indonesia!

While these foreign private investigators may provide excellent service in their home countries, there is a major disadvantage to doing "long-distance" or "internet" investigations in the Indonesia. These companies must normally subcontract their services, furthermore without local agents or staff, it is difficult to control the quality and timeliness of their work. In addition, Indonesia culture, customs, and laws are very different from other countries, and of course the service costs outside Thailand are also much higher.

Don't be misled by big companies, fancy names, bogus claims and trademarks, or flashy websites, make sure you can speak to someone that is actually located in Thailand and can give you customer references and samples of their work before you start. Indonesia Private Investigators recommend the following:

  1. Only deal with companies that are actually located in Indonesia. Don't hire someone whose office is in the US, you'll only be paying extra for a middleman that cannot control the quality of their subcontractor's work. 2. Be especially wary of any companies from Florida. According to Consumer Fraud Reporting (www.consumerfraudreporting.org), Florida has one of the highest fraud rates in the US! 3. Make sure they can communicate properly in English, and Bahasa 4. Check if they can provide redacted samples of their work. 5. Don't deal with companies that only accept bank transfers or Western Union. Make sure they provide standard universally accepted payment methods that provide consumer protection such as PayPal, MoneyGram or with most credit cards. 6. Make sure your information is confidential and secure. Check to see that their websites have proper security and privacy technology.

Indonesia Private Investigators offer discreet private investigative and detective services at affordable local rates. Our team of highly experienced and trained local and expat agents cover all of the Thailand and work with local police, embassies, as well as other government agencies.
