The fairy tale world of sparkling ice and icicle draped trees can be a fantastic scene for an outdoor wedding. Every major city has its park nestled somewhere within its vicinity. These parks in the winter are like fairy tale settings and one can imagine a snow queen coming out in a royal carriage with large ornate wheels and red leather seats. Of course the ice queen could be the bride. There are other outdoor sites that are natural for extravagant weddings.
Extravagant in that the wedding retinue will have to be clad in ermine and white stoles or the effect will be lost. If there is the probability that you will not have a white snowy setting found in parks, lakes, private clubs or even back yards, you can indulge in the traditional attire of satin and mink on location in downtown city brick street mini park sites that make for some great photographing and free props.
An outdoor wedding in the winter is really simple as any site that is newly covered in snow will work. For a dry winter and the intense desire to be out of doors, more ingenuity in costume and methods of transportation will be required to play off a really splendid idea.
A quick outdoor wedding idea is to have the guests meet at a farm. The bride and groom with minister and close friends will come out of the farm house and walk towards the barn that can be left open with a quickly raised chapel door in sight. The farm animals can also be visible as it will add to the effect. The wedding ceremony will have to be dramatic as the scene is actually intense. The bride and groom can go on to take pictures with the photographer following the formal ceremony and the guests will be escorted to long wooden table piled high with foods kept warm on hot plates.
If there is room in the farmhouse, the cake cutting can be ceremoniously conducted by leading the guests into the farmhouse when the bride and groom are ready to cut the cake and to pass out their wedding favors. Of course, most events done out of doors require a tent. A large tent, can be the simplest and easiest way of arranging for an
outdoor wedding and one's back yard is usually the place where it is to be set up.
