Sometimes having a timeless, memorable, and unforgettable wedding takes creativity. Destination weddings are growing in popularity. Traveling abroad for your wedding can create an exotic and festive wedding. A fabulous option for your destination wedding is Costa Rica. There are a few steps to take when planning your destination wedding in Costa Rica.
Choose Your Location
Among many beautiful sights and locations in Costa Rica, there are a few that stand out among the rest. One of the most popular destination wedding locations is on the beach. Nestled on the west side of the country, Jaco is a Pacific coastal beach city that gives a relaxed and chilled out atmosphere. Not to mention the white sandy beaches. Other ocean view options include a resort by the water or a beachfront villa, showcasing the sparkling ocean while also having beautiful floral gardens.
Many couples are drawn to the volcanoes in the country, seeing them as peaceful giants that add a spark to the wedding ceremony. If you are planning to get married in Costa Rica, the best choice is to get married between the months of December and April. Doing this helps to avoid the rainy season. Nothing could be worse than having it pour down rain on your wedding day!
Know What Makes Your Marriage Valid
Getting married abroad can often be tricky. Know what you need to have and do before you go. You must provide the names of your parents, your sworn civil status, and also the place where you were born. Bring along two or three witnesses with you, friends or lucky strangers. Most times you will need a lawyer to be present. The lawyers know what documents are necessary and required by the Costa Rican Civil Registry and also will help you send these to your own local Embassy. Plan on receiving all of your legal wedding documents up to three months after you actual ceremony.
Tie In the Local Traditions
If you’d like to take on some of the local customs for your destination wedding in Costa Rica, try having live music at your wedding. The music in Costa Rica ranges from extremely common Latin music all the way to reggae style songs. The traditional food in Costa Rica includes beans and rice, chicken, fish, and fried plantains. Fresh local food is a definite way to make your wedding feel more authentic to the location.
Find A Wedding Planner
Getting married abroad proves a few challenges, the biggest being that you are not at the actual location, able to watch over the course of all the wedding planning! Unless you truly want to elope and be spontaneous, having an on-location wedding planner with help smooth things over. Looking online is your best bet for finding a local wedding planner. This will help things be planned more efficiently and also help avoid problems when you both arrive.
Having a destination wedding in Costa Rica can be fun, if you have the laid-back relaxing attitude that this country has. What many people do after getting married is to stay in Costa Rica and have their honeymoon right there. The best attitude to have during the wedding planning process is that of the Costa Ricans - laid back, relaxed, comfortable, and full of life.
