So you are going to get married and are discussing money matters with your husband-to-be. What will your budget be? Does it include the wedding planner’s fees?

Nowadays, most weddings are organized with the assistance of a professional wedding planner and every wedding planner has his own fees. You may have to pay your wedding planner from a minimum of 1500$ to a maximum of…well there is no limit to the amount you may spend to have your wedding planned by a wedding planner. It all depends on the wedding planner you choose, his credentials, references, experience and, of course, contacts.

That is because every wedding planner chooses to work with a certain type of customers.

The wedding planner you contact might be an average wedding planner, a specialized wedding planner, a world class wedding planner, a wedding planner who doesn’t organize weddings unless celebrities and royals are involved and so forth…

And again, a wedding planner might only accept to organize luxurious weddings, while another wedding planner might be specialized in organizing weddings abroad.

It all depends on the wedding planning agency you contact, so make sure you do your research before getting in touch.

In fact, while in the past a wedding planner’s job was rather simple, people are getting more demanding by the year and they often come up with very original, not to say weird, requests. That is why a wedding planner should specialize in a certain field, so to cater to his customers’ needs as efficiently as possible.

A wedding planner who claims to provide ALL services, isn’t surely a specialized one and, even though we can not always generalize, lack of specialization often results into low quality services.

In the United States, a wedding planner’s fees range from 1500$ to 6000$, but the price might rise in case of destination weddings.

That is because a wedding planner who takes care of destination weddings has to have a knowledge of the destination country’s laws and regulations and you and your husband-to-be will also have to cover your wedding planner’s expenses while you are abroad.

Should a couple want to get married in Italy, for example, the wedding planner will have to provide his customers with a Nulla Osta (an affidavit) so that their marriage will be recognized in their native country as well.

Also, the wedding planner’s fees will rise since he will have to collaborate with the local embassy and work with a translator.

For this reason, when it comes to destination weddings, many suggest couples should hire a local wedding planner, so to save at least a couple of thousand dollars.

So what are the services provided by a wedding planner?

A wedding planner helps the couple set a budget. A wedding planner talks to the couple and their families to identify their wishes and needs. A wedding planner helps the couple prepare the attendee list. A wedding planner takes care of deliveries on the wedding day. A wedding planner assists the bride and groom-to-be with the choice of the wedding dress and suit.
