With weddings in the Caribbean growing in popularity all the time, you may be considering the tropical paradise as an option for your own wedding. If you decide to go to The Bahamas, the main problem you are likely to face is choosing from all of the hundreds of fantastic places to stay. Here are three of the most popular places to stay in The Bahamas to help you decide where to hold your big day.

  1. Nassau

Nassau is the bustling capital of The Bahamas, and a great option for anyone who wants to enjoy one of the more lively places in the country. Located on the island of New Providence, Nassau is the hub of everything in The Bahamas.

As you can imagine, this is the centre of the tourism industry, and with such attractions as the Straw Market, where you will find the locals selling produce and excellent hand-made goods, the impressive Fort Charlotte, which is the biggest fort in The Bahamas, and The Queen’s Staircase with its 66 steps, one for each year of Queen Victoria’s life, there are plenty of sights to keep you busy.

Nassau is also the centre of the dive industry with fantastic clear waters surrounding the island, and don’t forget to visit The Retreat, the smallest national park in The Bahamas, right in the centre of Nassau. With so much on offer, Nassau is one of the most popular places for weddings in the Caribbean, and it’s definitely worth considering.

  1. San Salvador

San Salvador in the east of The Bahamas is 63 square miles of paradise, and couples planning weddings in the Caribbean regularly select this as their destination of choice. The fantastic reefs off the coast make it ideal for scuba diving and other sports, and other key attractions include Farquharson’s Plantation, and the New World Museum with its large collection of pottery and paintings.

The most important day in San Salvador’s history came on October 12th 1492 when a certain Christopher Columbus landed on the island and hence discovered the New World. This fact is disputed, however, with various other islands making the claim to being the location of the first landing. Even on San Salvador itself, the exact location is disputed and there are various monuments to the event. However, the most likely location is regarded as Long Bay, which is worth a visit for anyone staying on San Salvador.

  1. Atlantis Resort

Atlantis Resort is one of the most popular resorts in the whole of The Bahamas, and as such is an excellent place to stay for anyone planning weddings in the Caribbean. It’s located on Paradise Island which is right next to Providence Island where Nassau is located, so it’s very easy to reach. Atlantis Resort opened back in 1998 and consists of a number of hotels and an excellent water park. The oldest of the hotels is The Beach Tower, although The Coral Towers and The Royal Towers are also popular.

The water park, Aquaventure, opened in 2007, and consists of 141 acres of rivers, rapids, slides currents and aquariums; so if you’re looking for fun and excitement when it comes to weddings in the Caribbean you’ll find them here.
