They say a ring is a symbol of unending love. The circular form of shape it takes signifies that there is no beginning or the end for that mater. That is why it is the ideal symbol of choice that signifies the joining together of souls, eternally. As is the case, one should always be able to smile whenever he or she glances at it and so utmost care must be taken when choosing a ring that you are going to put on your partner's finger on the wedding day.
Choosing a wedding ring is not easy. There are quite a number of determinant factors that come with the choice. Traditionally, before rings were introduced, people used arm bands. But as time progressed, the use of rings came into preference and several types of rings depending on their shapes and materials were invented. There are four types of rings shapes, namely, the traditional court, the slight court, the d-shaped, and the flat court.
The most popular is the traditional court shaped ring. These types of rings are rounded on the outside and on the outside which provides a comfortable fit for many people. Though comfortable, many people prefer the slight court. The slight court is slightly curved on both the inside and the outside. It is also very comfortable to wear because of its edges which normally have a blunt curve to them.
The D-shaped ring is commonly used by engaged couples. It is flat on the inside and well rounded on the outside. It is advised that people chose a wedding ring of the same profile so that it looks just as good as it did during the engagement.
The flat court ring is more comfortable at the edges but it is slightly heavier. Flat court wedding rings are lat on the outside and rounded on the inside to provide more comfort. They are usually slightly costly than the other rings.
Wedding rings are made from a variety of different metals such as gold, silver and platinum. Other metals are also used to make rings but the metal's durability really matters sometimes.
All rings are costly but the extent is determined by the type of metal that was used to make the ring. It is said by many that gold rings are expensive. To some extent, this is true. The cost of gold rings is heavily determined by the amount of carats the ring has. A yellow gold wedding ring is synonymous with many because it reflects both traditionalism and style. However, a nine carat gold ring is far cheaper than an eighteen carat gold ring. This is because an eighteen carat gold may be made up of a hundred parts that are pure gold but the rest is made up of materials or alloys that have been added to the ring to bring its purity to the required standard. A nine carat gold may be a fifty-fifty bargain with other materials. However, it is advisable that you go with the eighteen carat ring because it can withstand tear and wear. The same concept is used in other metals such as silver, or platinum.
