Many of our patients from La Nouvelle Center for Aesthetic Surgery, Liposuction and Vaginal Rejuvenation ask me about vaginal rejuvenation and the difference between labiaplasty and vaginoplasty. In this article I would like to cover the main difference between these two procedures and also concentrate on Labiaplasty. You can read in more details about vaginoplasty in my next article.

So, what is Vaginal Rejuvenation?

This a surgical procedure that helps to restore, improve and correct the cosmetic appearance of the labia and the vagina for either cosmetic reasons, better sexual function reasons or help with pain and irritation from wearing clothes. Labiaplasty and Vaginoplasty are two distinct procedures sometimes labeled Vaginal Rejuvenation. Labiaplasty is the procedure to cosmetically correct and enhance the appearance of the outer lips or labia. Vaginoplasty is to make the vagina smaller and tighter.

What is Labiaplasty in more details?

Labiaplasty is a cosmetic genital surgical procedure that will reduce the size or change the shape of the small lips on the outside of the vagina (the labia minora).

Many women are born with large or irregular labia - this is very common. Others develop this condition after childbirth or with aging. Many women are embarrassed to talk about it and to ask their gynecologists about vaginal looseness, enlarged or irregular labia or loss of sexual satisfaction. Many women do not even realize that there are surgical techniques to help them solve their problems. Ladies, you can't imagine how many women suffer from such problems! Remember, you are not alone! Here, at La Nouvelle Medical Spa, Vaginal Rejuvenation Center, we are striving to create a wonderful friendly atmosphere to make you feel relaxed and comfortable and help you solve those problems.

Many of our patients would like to do the labiaplasty because their enlarged labia that causes embarrassment with a sexual partner or loss of self-esteem. Some of our patients want to look "prettier" like the women they see in magazines or in the movies. And some women share that it's very painful to wear tight clothing, it's very irritating to wear underwear and pants, especially during sports or other physical activities.

Labiaplasty can greatly enhance the cosmetic appearance of the outer vagina giving many women greater confidence and self esteem. Women whose labia become irritated and painful will often find relief after surgery. Many years of experience in vaginal reconstructions surgery made Dr. Hanna one of the best surgeons in Labiaplasty.

Normally our patients don't have any side effects or complications; in some rare cases they can have bleeding, infection, and scarring.

What is the postoperative period like?

For the first few days, our patients feel discomfort at the surgical area, which then decreases. We send our patients home with prescriptions for pain medication and sometimes for antibiotics. Usually, full healing takes about six weeks. All sutures used are absorbable and therefore they do not need to be removed.

Most of our patients return to work in two to four days after Labiaplasty. We provide our patients with medical excuse letters for work.

Most women associate the clitoris with sensory pleasure, not the labia. That's why you should not notice any loss of pleasurable sensation after surgery. Usually our patients feel better about themselves and this brings more pleasure during intercourse.

Will Labiaplasty alter the skin surrounding my clitoris?

Usually this area is not altered during the surgery. Some women do have excessive skin in this area and it can be trimmed to give a more pleasing and natural appearance at the time of surgery. This can be discussed at the time of consultation.

If I don't have children, can I still have a Labiaplasty?

Absolutely yes. Even if you have not had children, Labiaplasty can be performed when the labia are enlarged and cause physical or emotional discomfort or unhappiness.
