If you are thinking about getting divorced or you think your spouse is considering it you should understand what the main causes of divorce are. These are the things that are most likely to break up a marriage and if you know them ahead of time you and your spouse can avoid divorce. Here are some of the major causes of divorce.

Financial Issues

The most common cause of divorce is money. When money becomes an issue and bills are not getting paid your spouse may decide that it is a good time to take off. This happens many times when the couple is sharing accounts and one is taking advantage of this. It can also happen when the major bread winner cannot hold down a job as well.

Lack of Communication

When a couple doesn't communicate they are doomed. This is as simple as it gets and if you want to keep your marriage together you need to make sure the communication is very good. You have to talk about what is going on and be completely open and honest with each other. There are no real secrets in a marriage and you have to tell your spouse nearly everything.

Sexual Issues

Another major cause of divorce is what happens or does not happen in the bedroom. Disinterest can cause an issue and it is even worse if one partner wants to have sex very often, but the other is not willing or just doesn't want to. If a couple cannot resolve their bedroom issues it can become the reason they end up getting divorced.

Cheating

It is nearly unforgivable for a man or a woman to cheat on their spouse. Some people will spend years pretending like they don't know what is going on when they know their spouse is cheating. They may do this because they think this is how they can protect their children or because they just don't believe it is going on.

This will split a couple up very quickly and if one or both partners are cheating the relationship is doomed. Even a simple one night stand can be enough to become one of the causes of divorce. You need to make sure you are not cheating on your spouse or you could find the divorce papers much faster than you want.

Unhappiness

Another one of the major causes of divorce is unhappiness. Sometimes people end up getting married because they are pregnant or for another reasons that is not a good one for marriage. This can lead to an unhappy marriage and can cause the couple to end up getting divorced sooner rather than later. Many marriages end in divorce because one or both partners are just not happy.

Whatever is happening in your marriage you should always be aware of the major reasons that couples end up getting divorced. If you know these ahead of time you will know why your spouse wants to get divorced or you can avoid these issues before they happen. These are the major causes of divorce, but remember they are not the only ones.
