It may take a few months to complete the divorce as many states have a cooling off or waiting period. Plus if there are children involved there are custody agreements and other things that must happen. Understand that it may take a good amount of time to go through the divorce and this means you have to be careful with how you act during this time.
Take the advice of your lawyer even if you don't like it and it will leads you to the freedom from your spouse that you desire. Make sure you are very careful not to go against the advice of your attorney because they do know what is best when dealing with infidelity and divorce.

Sure you can make it take longer by not signing the papers, but eventually a judge will sign off on the divorce regardless of whether or not you want it.
Infidelity is a big issue and is one of the major causes of the divorce in the world today. It is sad that we cannot stay faithful to each other, but it does happen. When you know it is necessary to get divorced make sure you understand everything about infidelity and divorce possible.
