Oxford is more than the home of the world's oldest English-speaking institution of learning. It is also the home of the some of the liveliest stag parties acknowledged to man. With a population of only 150,000, and a condensed city centre simply chock-a-block with pubs, Oxford promises good times for stag weekenders.

Once noted as the home of some of England's largest brewers, there is lots of lager in Oxford. And because of that, the night scene is remarkable. Whether you direct your partying on the Cherwell or the Thames, the riverside pubbing is extensive.

During the day, while the less fortuitous fellows are in class, you will be out having amusement. The countryside of Oxford is full of adventure. Paintball is one of the favorite activities in this part of the country, or try your hand at clay pigeon shooting or archery.

If you are into motorised amusement, there is grass kart racing, Ford Escort rally driving, indoor and outdoor karting, or hovercrafting. Climb aboard a quad bike, or better yet, give the blindfold 4x4 driving a sample. For the less adventurous, there is a day's treasure hunt, or a day at the races.

What is there to do in the evening, you may ask. Well, Oxford has a pub scene like no other. An abundance of co-eds, lots of pubs, and all within walking distance (no have to worry about who's driving). Or, select to take a punt and do your pub crawl on the river. The comedy scene in Oxford is legendary, so after a few drinks, hit the club for a few laughs. For you, a stag do in Oxford may mean putting a few quid down on the greyhounds. You simply will not be able to get everything done in one weekend.

Because Oxford attracts students from all over the world, the restaurants are as varied as you would find in London: Italian, Chinese, Mexican, Spanish, or Indian - it is all here. Ensure you get your fill before you head out for the serious partying.

The highlight of an Oxford stag do will no doubt be the night scene. Along the river lies a parade of pubs. Stumble from pub to pub, taking every one in, and appreciate the lifestyle that is Oxford.

A stag do in Oxford isn't unlike that in London or any other big English city. There is good food, lots of activities, and lots of brew to go around. What Oxford brings to the table, though, is the young, scholastic companionship that makes Oxford so exceptionally different and desirable.
