It's been an interesting time for the rich and famous when it comes to marital fidelity or the lack there of. A sitting governor, a popular late night talk show host, a United States Senator, a former Senator who admitted to being the baby's daddy, a reality TV star and now the top golfer in the world.

Of course you don't have to be any of the above to be effected by marriage infidelity. It is estimated that over fifty percent of marriages will experience adultery. Not to say that infidelity is the only reason but it definitely can be listed as one explanation as in to why the divorce rate is so high.

Why do they do it? Famous or not they know what the ramification will be if they are caught. For the celebrity it means destroying their marriage as well as being the target of some serous public ridicule and humiliation.

For the not so famous it also means destroying your marriage and being treated like a pariah by family friends and acquaintances. Even if the latter turns out to be much ado about nothing then you would think the part about threatening the marriage would be enough to make them decide otherwise.

It does not. So when they do get caught the excuse come fast and furious. The marriage was over anyway (even though neither party has filed for divorce) or they just could not help themselves. All other explanations will probably fall somewhere within those parameters.

However there is one justification that you may never hear yet it seems to be the main factor in many of these extramarital affairs. You won't hear it because it takes bluntness and raw honesty to a new level which may not be such a good idea if you are trying to heal the marriage relationship.

The reason is because they can. The cheating spouse is hurting their marriage because they want to. If they see someone that they find attractive then as far as they are concerned go for it. Why should they deny themselves what they desire? They want it the other person wants it so what's the problem?
