A lot of people work away from home now. Some students have papers to do and need the Internet for further research. There are some people who just need to be connected to the Internet almost all the time. It can be pretty difficult to find a stable connection that you can rely on. Of course, you can always have your mobile phone subscribe to a data plan that will allow you to surf through the Internet as you surf through GPRS or other mobile networks.
The mobile phones that are capable of connecting to the Internet have a cellular router built in the device. This is what allows you to surf the Internet. However, this can be pretty costly to use. The cellular router charges per byte downloaded. And if you wish to do extensive Internet searching, this is not a good option for you.
However, MiFi or short for mobile wireless Internet Local Area Network allows you to connect a wireless Internet connection where ever you are and whenever you need to. The device is a small block that acts as a modem to help you connect to the Internet. The network makes use of 4G technology to allow you to surf the Internet faster than you do on your mobile phone. These units cost about a hundred dollars. You will need to bundle it with a data plan subscription that usually costs up to sixty dollars for a downloaded information limit of 5GB. You just have to plug in the device onto your laptop and allow it to connect your laptop to the Internet.
This device allows you to have your own wireless network connection to connect to. It is about as big as a credit card and will be very unobtrusive. You can slip it in your pocket and have it around whenever you want it.
Cellular routers are most of the time built-in mobile phones to allow phones to connect to the Internet. You can also get something like a dongle that will allow you to connect to the Internet through a GPRS connection.
The two have similar goals: mobility. However, the portable hotspot can prove to be really useful especially for those who always need to communicate with their clients, bosses or perhaps their families. The gadget allows you to connect about 5 wireless capable devices on to it. The device also allows you to share the connection up to the people who are about 30 kilometers away from you.
Remember the difference: cellular routers are for GPRS connection and MiFi connects you through 4G technology. The latter comes with data plans from service providers. It is able to reach up to 140kbps at an average.
You can stop worrying about battling with other people for a decent wireless connection. You don’t have to bore yourself out waiting for search results on your mobile phone. All you need to do is to simply get a data plan from any of the mobile phone service providers and start using your modem. This is a cheaper and more convenient way of telecommuting without any hassles at all.
When you talk about WiFi, you have been behind, if you’re looking for the latest in wireless technology, then you have MiFi! Learn more about this up to the minute addition to wireless access at [http://mobilehotspot.com](http://mobilehotspot.com/)
