In order to rescue your marriage and avoid a divorce, you need to sway your ex to give the relationship a another go. Still, how do you actually do this? Whilst it isn't always achievable, it is absolutely essential in order to try to rescue your relationship.

Even if divorce papers have already been filed and served, not all hope is lost. A divorce can be prevented at almost any point, in spite of if you split yesterday or a year ago. However, the faster that you can prevent a divorce, you will have a greater chance of success that the divorce won't be restarted.

To protect your marriage and stop the divorce, you will have to persuade your partner to give you and your relationship a second chance. If you've been nagging, pleading, even hounding your spouse to get back together with you, cease straight away. This is the most common mistake that most people make, and one of the most detrimental things that you can do. You may be contemplating that "if I don't keep trying to get my ex back, then I'll never get back together with them".

It does appear counter-intuitive to allow someone the room that they want in order to get them back. It boils down to a psychological principle called The Scarcity Theory. Briefly, the more you prevent someone access to something, the more that they want it. It's akin to the Law of Supply and Demand...the rarer something is, the more it is worth to someone. If something is in surplus, not a lot of value is attached to it. So, if you're in surplus to your spouse, always pleading them to take you back, it's doubtful that they're going to see you as desirable, and your relationship will be lost for good.

As opposed to acting immature, ranting and raving to your ex to take you back, try acting like a mature adult. It will very likely come as a pleasurable surprise to your ex and go a long way to stopping the divorce. Calmly agree that your marriage has suffered some hard times recently, and you're hurt, but you'd really like to give your relationship a second chance. Do not forget...relaxed and sincere.

One more strategy to prevent divorce is to exhibit your maturity and love by suggesting marital or couples counseling. Counseling has been successful for millions of people and couples. Your relationship will very likely benefit from it. Men and women, physically, are clearly different. What isn't obvious to the majority people is that men and women, psychologically and emotionally, are VERY different. It is crucial to acknowledge this and have an understanding of exactly HOW they are different, so that you better comprehend your partner's thoughts and moods.

While in your counseling classes, you'll be provided the opportunity to show your partner why you love them. You can remind them why you fell in love with them in the first place, and how you want to have those days back, versus fighting and arguing all of the time. Be passionate, and give an honest effort in seeking to figure out the marital concerns that come up while in counseling. That in itself may be plenty to convince your spouse to not only stop the divorce for the time being, but permanently.

If you succeed in stopping the separation and divorce, bear in mind that the challenging part is yet to come. You and your partner have a lot of repairing to do. Keep in mind that the other person was all set to divorce you, and it would be easy for them to change their mind and file for divorce later. Having started a divorce once already makes the decision to file again much easier. Be conscious of the state of your relationship, and continue counseling.

Relationships can be hard at times, and something that you must continually work on both individually and as a couple.
